OK thanks everyone. So it's what I call a fringe then. No I was not kidding whoever said that.

I don't know, you North Americans, you really have mangled our language.

A fringe in hairstyling is the front part of the hair cut to hang or curl over a person's forehead. Fringes are more commonly found on females than on males. However, as long hair becomes more popular among teens, many boys have begun to grow long fringes as well.

The term bangs is usual only in North American English; other English-speaking countries use the term fringe.

If you are English, I think you would hear the term 'fringe'. It is the hair right in the front. Some people let it be the same length as the rest of the hair, but others cut it shorter; then you have hair coming down to your eyes, there are many different types of short bangs.

Bangs is a hairstyle in which the front part of the hair hangs down in front of the person's forehead. Bangs are far more commonly found on females than on males. The term is usually used only in North American English, other English-speaking countries use the term fringe for the same thing. It is a fringe of hair that drapes over your forehead. The fringe of hair is cut from the front row of your hair that is above your face. It is usually used to conceal a high forehead and/or improve the look of a round face. Bangs can also be induvidual strands of hair strategically cut to whimsically to frame the face.

Bangs is a word to describe shorter hairs around the forehead and eye area.

I think the term "bangs" is pretty much American. It is actually called the fringe and extends from the corners of the eyes to the apex of the head. They can be cut as light or heavy as you want.

It is the hair, cut and shaped in many ways that hangs over or covers ones forehead. For examples of ugly bangs look up 80's hairstyles or go to mullets.com

Its when you cut your hair just right above or even with the eyebrows. Usually the back and sides it still long. In the 80's i had some killer bangs, I would use a half a can of spray just so they would stand up all night.

I don't know where the term came from but bangs is hair cut short at the forehead just above or along the browline.
