Im getting one tonight lol! Perms are difficult no matter what any one says they can and may not do damage. People are making it seem bigger then they are suppose to. Theres a surtain perm for people with course fine medium hair you know? Look at the box first. I had a cousin she waz 5 she had the soft curly hair puffy hair the ones that normally mixed children get she got a perm now her hair is straight. You would think she was born that way. Like I said look at the box carefully, read instructions. Also every perm asks people to do a test on there hair before going on with the full process. Make shure that you get the set to maintain yor perm like the relaxer, spray and stuff it really helps. The one thing Im shure of that will break your hair is if you get a perm too often wait atleast 7 weeks. Also never after doing a perm and after seven weeks switch to another!!!!!!!!!!!! It will break your hair trust me. If you dont like the product wait 2 months then switch. Also after ll the words on the box there is something that says NO-LYE this mean dont get yur perm wet cause if you do it will frizz back up. Last but not least if your hair is really frizzy and bad on the box it will say super or regular regular is for people just want straight hair but there hair isn't crazy. If crazy get super
Hope things work out

If the perming stuff is let on your hair for a long time yes. If you get your hair permed too many times in a certain amount of time yes. Just follow the directions on the box ( if you have it done by a friend) and wait about 4 months before you get your hair permed again

If you color your hair ( base color, highlights lowlights) dont do it unless you have very strong hair that has gone through a good conditioning treatment before you get the perm. Also make sure whoever you go to is realy good at PERMS. I am a stylist and not all stylists excell at perms. I know i dont. I admit it so i dont ruin anyones hair. Just not worth it. Great at color but not perms. So make sure you go to someone really good and they will look at your hair and tell you what they think. Good luck

I have only had 2 perms in my lifetime (I'm over 35). My hair has NEVER EVER been the same. I wish I never had a perm. For some reason I think it screwed up my roots or something because my hair has never been the same!!

yes they can alot! It also depends on what kind of shape your hair is in before you do it. Mine is naturally shiny and soft so it probably wouldnt do a GREAT deal of damage but definitly some damage. Also you take the chance of never being able to have your hair back to the way it was originally

Yes they do damage hair. Every time I have tried one ,I wound up looking like a Q-tip or my head looked like cotton. A perm will damage even more and look worse if you have been coloring your hair. There's chance of it looking okay if you don't color your hair.

Yes, it can. It depends on how frequent you use them and how much you take care of your hair. There's alot of risks with persm for example while applying it's easy to burn the scale or if your hair gets too dry it could start to shed (fall out). I wouldnt reccomend perms. If your hair is hard to manage then stick with braids or go to your nearest hair salon.

if it's done correctly by a professional it won't damage your hair. Ask for a gentle body wave, and make sure the rod size aren't little bitty.
However, if your hair is already damaged from sun, over-coloring or just dry, then don't do it.
