I am getting married in November and we are having a BIG wedding. I need some centerpiece ideas for my reception--my bridesmaids dresses are a wine color. We will have over 40 tables, so i would like it to be as inexpensive as possible
help!
thanks

Go to an art supply store and buy simple square vases that are about 6" tall. Fill them with wine colored roses, or any flowers you prefer, and sprinkle matching colored rose petals around them. We did that, only with blush roses, and they were perfect - beautiful, elegant, and didn't take up the whole table. We actually did them to match my bridal bouquet because I kept that simple too. It was perfect!!

Don't let the florist talk you into $50 centerpieces. Not necessary, there are lots of centerpieces that can be done for less than $10. Go to your local arts and crafts store, buy a glass bowl, fill part way with water and float some blooms in the water. Much less than a typical florist arrangement. If the bowl is shallow enough you can also put a pillar candle in it. Walmart also has really inexpensive vases. Check out the neat centerpieces they did on Design on a Dime wedding, (figure H) link below. The cala lilys look beautiful submerged in the water, I saw this episdoe and they attached something to the bottom of the stem so the flower didn't float out of the water.

If the location you're are having it at allows open flame, set a single candle, the low, wide kind on a glass plate (they're cheap and easy to find the "$.99 Store"), sprinkle those plastic rock things that are supposed to look like glass (or glass marbles) around the candle. Then set flowers, (use 3 or 5, just never an even #)- in the rocks. It's cheap, it adds a level of sparkle because of the flame and the glass looking elements. I'm very certain that all these things can be bought at the dollar stores.
Just make your centerpeices tall and slim, or low and wide, so people don't have to band and twist to talk to someone across from them. Congratulations.

I like the candle idea, but instead of one wide candle get 3 or 5 candles with different heights. Again you can find them at the dollar store. Set them on a glass plate and use deco sand from a hobby store around them. The sand is very inexpensive. We are renewing our vows in October and we are having a vase of fresh flowers at each table. We are using roses because we will only have 7 - 10 tables, but you could get a bunch of flowers of the season at your local florist or grocery store. I know that have them here for $5-$6. You can get a plane glass vase at wal-mart for $2.

You can get a mirror and place candles (in the wine color that your bridesmaids ar wearing.) on top of the mirror You can also place flowers around the candles in greens and mauve colors (mauve will look beautiful with the wine color)

Check your rental store, we got beautiful tall candle holders that held 10 candles at varying heights for my daughters wedding. The big advantage was they were delivered & set up by rental company - the caterer lit them & removed all worry. They were great & did not distract from cake tables - we had wedding cake on 1 table & their 2 different college mascot cakes on another (they loped off the head of opposing teams mascot - cute photo)

The rental company had several choices & everyone loved them.
Mostly my daughter loved them & that was all I cared about. They were unique & she wanted something she had not seen at her friends weddings. Good Luck!!!

For our centerpieces, we bought some mirrors & put candles on them, then we glued little silk roses are the edges of the mirrors so that it would fit around the candle. This looked so elegant & it was cheap! Good luck!

How about bowls of floating candles & flowers from your bouquets? You can probably find the bowls pretty cheap at a party supply store or a craft store & give them away as gifts when the day is done.
