He chose the name Graham when he was just a young boy, because his father was also named Alexander Bell, (Alexander Melville Bell) so young Alex wanted something distinctive. Not sure where the name Graham came from - if memory serves, it was the name of a family friend, but that may not be correct. He was a remarkable man.
