The Bush Administration is famious for shadow boxing on every corner, just in case someone really suspects the truth. So, it seems to me that Rove is too clever to show his real modivations.
I think the truth lies three or fouth turns below the words of everyday. Our only hope is that the truth is imprinted by the-boots-on-the-ground and observed, understood, photographed and typed.

Many members of Bush's administration were also members of his father's administration. They considered Iraq to be 'unfinished' business from the first Gulf War, and intended to push Saddam Hussein out of power at the first opportunity. 9-11 gave them the opportunity.

They have believed for 15 years that if they got Saddam out of power. Iraq would become a western-favoring 'foothold' in the middle-east. Since the Saudi royal family has a difficult time holding on to power without the Wahhabi fundamentalists that want the US out of their country -- this new foothold would replace the base that was taken out of Saudi Arabia.
So far - it's been a complete flop.

the answer to this is far to complex to fit here, however if you are serious about finding out research the bilderbergs. the short answer would be global domination under a one world government, a new world order. And Iraq is merely a multifaceted stepping stone, it is a very strategic location for controlling not only the land entrance to Africa but the north western Indian ocean, and with Iran and Afghanistan-south western Asia, landing troops on the coast of china would be suicide, and the US naval presence in both the western pacific and Indian ocean are already overwhelming. But that is simply one military aspect of it, the broader reasons are socio-economic, Keynesian economics on which all socialist democracies are based, believe that a state of "total war" is necessary to give the government control of the means of production, they can continue "stimulating" the economy, by redirecting funds which we would have spent or saved elsewhere, back into the war machine, in their theory creating jobs, and continuing to keep the people in fear of some threat from which we need to be protected. Their ultimate goal however is far more sinister, and unbelievable so as i said research the biderbergs, and watch out for echelon.

There are always a lot of reasons for getting involved in a military action of any type, including the ones you listed. Basically, it is a failure of diplomacy and negotiation, including a little diplomatic arm-twisting here and there. They are not all things the government can tell the public, after all, for various reasons.

the reason why we are here is do you really want the fight in your back yard. would you like to take it to there turf so your family does not get hurt. no oil is involved. think about your freedom and why men and women are there. because they have no freedom there. but they still will sacrifice their lives for what their beliefs are. if you have never been there and seen it for you're own eyes, then you have no real say. just appreciate your freedom to do almost everything you want and whatever you say, for those so they know that they are doing their job.
