trip around Europe?
I think you might want to spend the next year studying geography and researching the countries you will actually go to.
That way you won't come across as a complete idiot when you are travelling. Then your experience will be completely worth it.

To keep costs down, I highly recommend staying in hostels for cheap accommodation. www.lonelyplanet.com is an excellent resource. Depending on the countries you visit, it can average about USD$50 a day, more or less depending on whether you're visiting Europe (more expensive) or Morocco (cheaper). You might want to focus on a geographic region, unless you want to do a Round the World tour. You can get airpasses and train deals combos depending on the airline and which Europass you buy. Check out STA travel for good student travel deals.

It depends how structured your plan is for the trip. Do you plan to kind of go as things happen or do you plan to schedule most things? If you want to be more free, you will want to book rooms when you get there. Let's say you love London, but aren't as happy with Paris, or excited to go to Paris, then you could spend a week in London and only 2 days in Paris.

If you are sure you are going to be in this place on this date, then you go online to just about any travel site or travel agency to book your hotel rooms. You can go to someplace like Trip Advisor to get reviews. If you are trying save money, hostels are the least expensive way to travel. But, just be aware you may have some fees or may not be able to get your money back if you decide not to stay the whole time.

There are a lot of ways to do it, it just depends what you are thinking your plans will be.

To the person who said study before you actually take the trip so you don't come across as an idiot. I feel as if you are the one who is appearing to be an idiot. If you go to any backpacking across Europe website you will see in bold letters "you don't need to know where you're going in Europe beforehand". And if they are planning on going after they graduate wouldn't you think their school makes them study geography and other places other than the United States?

Anyway. I think this is a great idea and a good experience. I can't give you much help except this website. http://www.soyouwanna.com/site/syws/eurobackpack/eurobackpackFULL.html

Good luck, have fun, be safe!!
