i really have better things to do than go sit in the stupid court house... this is the second one ive gotten in 2 years and im only 20... i could care less about trial by jury and i truelly believe that anyone that does anything wrong should just get shot and that would stop people from breaking the law...

My God, youre an idiot. Trial by Jury means that you are not at the mercy of an impersonal judicial system, you have 12 your peers deciding on your fate. It's an imperfect system but the best one available to us. You shoudl treat your civic privilidges as a sacred duty, one many soldiers have died for to provide to you.

Juries are selected form the roles of registered voters. Just dont vote anymore. With your lack of intelligence you shouldnt be allowed to vote anyway.
With your attitude, I sincerely hope you are mistakenly arrested someday and shot even though you did nothing wrong.

Because you're on their "list". If that's what you really believe, TELL them that ( "i could care less about trial by jury and i truelly believe that anyone that does anything wrong should just get shot and that would stop people from breaking the law..." ) the next time you're in there being a part of it! That you don't believe in their system which is in place etc etc etc... More than likely they will cross you off their list and not call upon you anymore.

You vote and they select from the voter rolls. But I just want to add one thing. While our system is not perfect it allows for the accused to be judged by his peers. That might not sound like too much to you but put yourself in the suspect's shoes. Would you (and lets just say you are innocent) want to judged by a crooked judge or a three person panel of racists with an "off with his head" mentality? I just got selected for jury duty last week. Third time in three years. What was different about this time is the court didn't waste a lot of time. The process was relatively painless and the judge and attorneys told us why things were done in a specific manner. I wasn't selected to the jury but since I reported and didn't seek an excused exclusion I was told I wouldn't be called for at least two years.

I was kinda looking forward to it....maybe next time.

Well we can't stop people from breaking the law and unfortunatly you have to go to jury duty cause as a citizen you have to and all. So just sit on that court room and think about ti positively, at least you are not working or in a hospital or anything. There could be worse ways to be spending that one hour or hours. Good luck :)!

Have you been voting in the Primary elections. I understand that is the list where they choose the ones for jury duty. The rest of your comment is not ethical, we like to give minor offenders a second chance. And many need to be rehabilitated. I would say you are "to quick on the draw" pardner !!

getting called is a random factor. but serving makes you expemt for varing amounts of time it is usually at least 2 years. Last time I called I went and showed up for the day. was there at 8 and at 9 they said all were seated for the day. I have not been called in 9 years

You can be called once every year until you actually serve on a jury, then you won't be called for a couple more years.

yes, although you can't control not being called to be on jury duty, when you get there tell them you can spot a guilty person from across the room. :P

You'll be gone--same day--and back to your life OFF jury duty!

some people get called until they go .. just say its against your personal religious belief if u want it to stop and say god is judge not you and you cannot judge they will take u off list forever as they will think u are biased and they don't want that and what if u put away someone truly innocent can u handle that and it happens all the time..

You have only gotten 2 in two years? I get one about every 6 months. If it isn't county, or JP, it's city court.
