Genesis1:26 says that mankind is given dominion over all the animals and everything else on the Earth. So if a species goes extinct it's not God's fault.

so that there are fossil fuels
some might say, "but god doesn't need to do that, he can easily make the fossil fuel there without anything in the past."
this is true, and HE didn't have to make it take 6 days to create the universe, neither did HE have to rest of the 7th day.
God makes things how HE wants to, and the fact that others might not like the idea of how HE chose to do it, makes no difference to HIM. After all, why didn't HE just blink everyone out of existence saving only Noah and his family? HE didn't have to send a flood. And why did HE use a flood, sparing the sea life but none of the land life?

God has nothing to do with it. It is just environmental changes that causes extinction of a species.

understand. the material universe is only a reflection of true reality like the image you see of yourself in the water.
individuals and whole species go extinct because they are not permanent, because they are not real.
what is in them is permanent and real but the material beings(animal bodies) are not permanent and real.
that's why all species and all individual material entities pass on.
once we pass on we are not limited by the crude senses of our animal bodies and achieve a better understanding.

It is not creation that causes extinction but rather enviromental evolution that causes it. Can you imaging driving down the stree only to turn around quickly because of a T-Rex is chasing you?

Probably so we could learn to be better stewards of the world. If we could do whatever we wanted to the world and there were no consequences, we would never learn the value of the earth's natural resources or the value of life.

I'm not sure that God made them extinct. When He made them, they were definitely alive...
