Lately I have been needing to make some big life decisions, and it seems that when I go to bed even though I am exhausted,my brain is racing with thoughts, and it makes it impossible to sleep.
Anyone else had this happen...what helped.
Any suggestions welcomed.

I have to tell you, I've been having the same trouble. I've been thinking about lot's of things- money, life, love, family... All kinds of stuff has been changing in my life. Sometimes when I lie in bed at night, I can't stop thinking about all those things, and my mind gets so busy, it almost hurts. I've been trying to decide if I want to leave everything behind and go to China, to help...I don't know how, but to do something. But I would be leaving behind my music, my family, and my best friend. Things have been rough between us, so I'm not sure it would matter. I had an anxiety attack the other day, and I tried to make a joke that it was because of Yahoo Answers, but I know there are alot of things bothering me right now. It was my first real anxiety attack...kind of scared me.

The one thing that has really comforted me lately is that I have begun to make decisions about trying to change the world(a small world, maybe, but change none the less). There many talents I was given that I could be using to help people...whether it be through music, through my current job working for hospitals, helping to build, or even just compassion.

So I guess what might help you is to know that life is always swirling with big decisions, and when we feel like it's calm and there's nothing going on, it's because we're ignoring those decisions. I can see, and I hope you can too, that if you are paying attention to those decisions, then you are being active, even if it's just in your own life. One thing I've learned, is that you make good decisions, you make bad decisions, and sometimes the decisions make themselves. But which ever direction you go, the key is to try and understand the results, to grow from it. I once made a bad decision and got in the car with a drunk friend. We hit a tree at 65 mph and I was out of work for 6 months. I never gave 5 minutes thought to that decision, and just think where I would be if I had. Actually, I would probably still be working a dead end job, still sitting in the same old rut, and still being completely selfish about everything. But because of that wreck, I had time to grow and learn, and mature in ways I never thought I would. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that you should go around making bad decisions, I'm saying that it' snot about what decisions you make at all, it's about how you choose to react to what happens afterwards.

Take your time to sit and think about those decision first thing in the morning, before the day ever starts...wake up early if you have to. But when you go to bed, force yourself to think about things further along than those decisions, like what good things the right decision will bring to you. You'll know what decisions to make at the right time, I promise. Just remember this-A rich man isn't necessarily a happy man, but a happy man is always wealthy.

Good luck to you in making these big decisions, and I hope things work out for you. By the way, your have a beautiful smile!

Put some lavender on your pillow and it's easier
2 sleep, the lavender helps you sleep.A cup of hot milk help you go 2 sleep too,so try that.I searched some organisations or sites on the internet and I found some.I hope it will help you or someone else!!
Here's some of the information:
A US team found that fruit flies with a mutated version of the gene were able to get by on much less sleep than others.

Fruit flies have a similar genetic make-up and sleep patterns to humans.

University of Wisconsin Medical School researchers said the findings might help develop new techniques to treat people with sleeping problems.

Fruit flies sleep anywhere between six and 12 hours each night - just as humans do.

But in the study of 9,000 flies, published in the journal Nature, the researchers found some were functioning on just three or four.

The flies which could get by on less sleep had a fault in a gene called Shaker, which stopped the flow of potassium into cells.

However, one consequence of their sleeping patterns was that they died much earlier.

Recent studies have suggested potassium may be involved in sleep patterns in humans.

Timing

Much is already known about the timing of sleep, which is regulated by the circadian system, but the team said this research would help understand how sleep was controlled, which could in turn benefit humans.

Lead author Dr Chiara Cirelli said: "The more behaviours we look at in terms of sleep, the more we find that sleep in fruit flies is very, very similar to sleep in mammals.

"Humans have the same kind of genes and potassium channels.

"The research offers the possibility of developing a new class of compounds that could affect potassium channels in the brain rather than other brain chemical systems targeted currently."

Sleep expert Dr Simon Archer, of the University of Surrey, UK, said: "As humans have the same gene, it is certainly possible it will act in the same way as it has for fruit flies.

"But we cannot assume that. Fruit flies and humans are quite different so we need more research."

He said if the results were replicated it opened up the possibility of predicting which people would suffer from not being able to sleep when they got older and helping them at an early stage.

And he added: "Gene therapy could also be used to reverse this, although I am not sure we are at the stage where we would want to see that happen.

Quick fix: A drink or a sleeping pill (not both at the same time though)
Reading a book and taking a warm bath always works for me.
Avoid caffeine, if you can.
Get some exercise at least six hours before you go to bed.
Think happy thoughts!

Hello Ms. Sweet,

Well you need something to distract you in bed, like a book perhaps. Or, try exercise during the day and wear yourself out a bit. Perhaps a walk in the evening will help you, and it will give you the serenity you need to ponder your decisions.

I don't want to offend you in anyway here at all because you seem to be a very respectable and kind woman - but also consider engaging in an 'intimate' activity.

Aerobic exercise. Or push-ups. Or sometimes the problem (whatever it is) just needs to be worked out. Last year I went through a bad break-up with a live-in girlfriend. Literally the day after she moved out a friend looked at me and said "You look like you aren't burning the candle at both ends anymore, which means one thing. She's gone."

I hadn't had a decent night's sleep in months. She was the cause of my sleeplessness.

other than getting in some kind of exercise during the day and laying off the caffeinated drinks ,try watching the history channel in bed. Unless there showing something that fascinates you that will do it every time

Turn up the air conditioning and layer on the blankets. Then, sing two songs to yourself.

Oddly enough, this formula always works for me.
