i have one question, this requires someone knowledge of fibromyalgia. does the heat make you weak and dizzy?

I have fibromyalgia, for the past three days the temp has been 90-104 degrees. any one out there that knows about this disease please respond, i have been on every web site with no answers. is it common for a person to feel week and dizzy because of the heat? thanks to anyone who will answer me. i do not have a doctor at this moment to call. i even called the local hospital and they didn't know anything

While this is not an express symptom of fibromyalgia, many people with FMS do experience sensitivity to heat. Also, it is common to have less tolerance to heat as you age.

When it is hot outside, try to stay indoors or in shady areas outside. Use cool cloths on the back of your neck, put feet in cool water, and drink lots and lots of water. Also, make sure you get plenty of potassium (fresh fruits and vegies are a good source of this).

There are other similar/related conditions, such as lupus and sjorgrens syndrome, that do include heat and sun sensitivity.

I work with fibromyalgia patients every day. None of them have ever complained of that symptom from the fibro. Like the previous posters stated, just the high heat (especially if it is humid too), can cause those symptoms. Try to stay where it is cool and drink plenty of liquids(caffeine free, preferably) to keep well hydrated.

i have fibromyalgia, dizzinessis not one of MY symptoms but it could be for you...everyone is different. heat affects everyone and most likely it is not because of the fibro but just cuz its freakin hot out there
