Well, if you keep a dog outside, you don't just let it wander!!!!!!!!!
You should just get it to a shelter and hope it gets a better home. It MAY have a medical condition and need to see a vet!!!! Maybe you could try that first!! If you aren't willing to foot that bill, get it to a shelter!!!!!!!
Yeah...if you are still some of the "rub the nose in it" people, PLEASE give the dog away so it can have a shot at some sort of a life!!!!!!!

Information is needed, how old is the dog? Has she been to a vet to rule out health problems?
The fastest way to house break a dog is by crating. Leave dog in the crate for an hour or 2. Take dog outside immediately when you take her out of cage. Take her out whenever she eats, or wakes up from a nap. Take her out when she starts sniffing, or circling the room. She is looking for a spot. Rubbing a dogs nose in puddle never works. Neither does spanking. When she potties outside, you must praise her a lot. The praise must be instantaneous, other wise she won't associate it with the going outside. Their are no quick fixes for dogs. You must be very diligent, your mother also must keep a eye on her at all times.

if the dogs old or a small fragile type of dog or a male it's going to continue to do this. try putting potty pads around the house and see if the dog will use those otherwise your just going to have to deal with this as long as you have the dog

Take the dog for long walks after it eats. This has to be a habit so the dog gets it. If all else fails, consult Cesar Milan - the dog whisperer. He is really good.

someone needs to get a routine for the dog and stick with it.feed it at a certain time and take it out.as soon as it does it's thing, praise it and bring it back in the house.if it goes in the house again, rub his nose in it and put it out again. make sure you use the same words when telling it out, eat, bad, potty, good pup etc.

Is it an OLD dog? B/c then it could just be old age, and you can't really do anything. You could try calling your vet for suggestions, or a dog behaviorist (behaviorologist?) Has the dog been to obedience school?

If your mom wants to keep the dog, she needs to work harder on training it. If she wants to rehome it, she should contact a boston terrier rescue group.
