My rat terrier loves to float with me on my raft, but her claws keep poking holes in it. I need to find out where I can get a raft you can lay on and she cant poke a hole in.

A friend uses a "body board". It is THICK styrofoam covered with a laminate type material. He floats a FAT Jack Russel on it in his pool. He got it at a pool supply store.

Yes. But only if it is a private trip with your own raft. Dogs have sharp toe nails. If your dog can't swim leave it home. A small dog floundering around in a rapids may not survive even with a PFD. Commercial operators will ban such customers (small poodle) as they are safety risks.

You probably can't find an inflatable raft that will be strong enough to withstand a dog's claws. But try getting your dog to wear little "dog booties" to help keep her claws off the raft. Go to:

I would talk to your vet and see what materials would be safe for your dog. You not only want to make sure that your dog won't poke holes in the raft, but also make sure that the material is safe for your dog. Good luck and have a nice day!

I'm pretty sure you can, but if you can't get find one, try buying some doggy booties for her sweet little feet, that way she can't claw at it.

Or you can take her to the groomer and have her claws filed and trimmed, so they're not so sharp.

Good luck. :)
