Hi, just wondering if anyone shares the same interest..hehe..

I love airports! It's fast paced, and there is some glamour to it too. I always feel excitement when I am in one, especially when I am there to catch a flight. It feels like anytime soon, I would be up flying and going off to somewhere far away.

Which is why I love airplanes too.I know, economy class is not particularly comfortable, but hey...there is something fun about flying, don't you think.. (or am I the only weird one..haha!)

Thanks.

Im right there with Matt B.

When I was little I used to LOVE going to the airport to pick my dad up from his business trips. In 2000 I met my now ex-husband who happened to work for Delta and I would go up to the Atlanta airport just to have lunch with him and see the planes (back when anyone could go to the gates). Later that year he helped me get a job with Delta in Cargo. We worked odd schedules from each other, but he'd come and pick me up on his lunch break and we'd drive around the service roads and the ramps on a tug. It was really the only time we had together, we never had coordinating days off. I was just so excited to be around the planes and the fast paced environment. Whenever we could fly somewhere we would (for free). One of the benefits to working for an airline is getting First Class if it is available. I was in heaven the first time I got upgraded.

After 3 years of working in Cargo I wanted to be around the planes and the people. So, I transferred to a smaller city, Jackson, MS...and worked the ticket counter and gates. I was so scared the first time I had a MD-88 coming towards me and I had to steer the jetway to the aircraft door, which by the way is one of the trickiest aircrafts to line up with the jet way. It got easier and easier and after a year, I wanted to play with the bigger planes. So, I transferred to Las Vegas. It was sooo much fun being around the 767's and the 757's and getting to go into the cockpits, down on the ramp, up in the cargo holds of the aircrafts and not even have to worry about it.

I took leave from Delta in December after becoming pregnant. I didnt want to be around the loud noise and jet fumes and passengers with nasty attitudes while I was pregnant. Its funny, I miss the smell of jet fuel. I miss the smell of an empty cabin after all of the passengers have gotten off. I miss the excitement of seeing a large aircraft coming right at you and pulling a jet way up to it only to be 5 feet from the engine and having to line it up perfectly so that you wouldnt hit anything. I miss the sounds of the engines powering down, being started and even the thrill of take off and landing. I miss the crappy food in First Class, the snack mixes they got rid of last year and the new snacks they brought out this year.

Just like Matt, I still look up at the sky when I hear an airplane. When Im around the airport, I look at the tales to see if its Delta. I can still tell what aircraft it is by looking at the bottom. And my favorite thing is to get on I-285 by the airport at night as they are on approach and watch them stacked up in the sky. I loved my job. If it wasnt for the passengers who made it difficult to do my job or the low pay, Id be back in a heart beat after I had the baby. Traffic, long commute and all is worth being around the planes and flying for free..in First Class when you can get it.

I love airport too! Those are awesome places, even though I have only seen three of them... One in Montreal (where I live), and two in London... Stansted and Gatwick... I don't know if I like airports because it means traveling or only because it if a fun place to hangout. Probably both. You have everything you need around, usually friendly people and fellow travelers who are as 'high' as you are. It is such an exciting place, everyone moves so quickly, laughs or speaks. I wish I could work in an airport or at least in a plane...And yes I love planes, recently I was in my first flight and it was an oversea one. It was a 7 hour flight for a 3 week vacation to London. I loved flying so much that I would go anywhere only for the planes to immediately come back... no visiting... However, I did love traveling!

Thats why I became a pilot! I love flying and all the aspects of it. So exciting when you blast off for takeoff and land later. Getting a low altitude also helps to enjoy the scenery along the way!

Airports are fun too! People coming and going every which way.

I know what you mean. I love the excitement, and all the different types of people (my airport is international). I used to go to the airport in LA and just hang around and watch people. I'd probably be arrested nowadays, though.

I've kind of gotten over the thrill of the aircraft, though, after taking a lot of international flights and being desperately uncomfortable.

I love flying, airports, and just about anything to do with aviation. I am a glider pilot myself.. I used to do instructing as well but gave that up so I could just enjoy myself. I like going to small airports and private airstrips and chatting with the 'old boys' with their old airplanes. I collect all kinds of aviation memorabilia as well. If I could fly for a living.. I'd be happy.... but just being around aviation related things is great.
