how do you stop your dog from playing with their own stool?

there is a product on the market called Deter. It is a pill that you give to your dog (by mouth) that will make their stool more unapealing (like it isn't already!). I've sold this product at a store I used to work at and got a good response from customers. I am not expert on medications so I don't know what it does to the stool (maybe produces a more foul odor or hoard taste) but it deters the dog from bothering it. I know the manufacturer is M/C but I don't have any other contact info for you. Ask you local pet store if they sell a similar product.

put something unpoisonus to dogs but something they don't like in a spray bottle and shake it up. Then spray it on their poop or stool. Or, just pick it up. Make daily rounds although it can be hard to grab your pooper scooper before a silly pup comes to play around. u can probably try Repel brand Dog and Cat repellant and spray it on his/her poop!

My dog does this also, she even EATS it too! Blech!

Someone told me once that you can put some stuff on the turds to make them taste bad to the dog -- a vet can tell you what to get to use it on the stools.

my vet told me to sprinkle it with meat tenderizer b/c it makes it taste bitter..but i never trid that..i just picked it up before it could be played with

get him a big recliner instead. he will just lie in it and not play with it.
