I'm moving to southern Germany (Munchen) and I'm not familiar with the language. Thanks for your answers.

Which part of Germany?!
It can make a BIG difference.

It can be the difference of listening to somebody from Mississippi and Boston. Sure it's the same language - it'll work for the most part - but once you know which part of Germany you're going to, you can start focusing from there.

A textbook alone will get you nowhere. You have to hear the language. You can get the Foreign Sevice Institute's progams on audio cassette. They are probably on CD by now. They are excellent. And you can get computer software that is amazing. Try Transparent Language. There's also a nice website you should check out called No Frills German. I dont know of any good textbooks but I do know of a good computer program.

Instant Immersion German v 2.0

I used it and learned alot.

the link below is the more expensive one. I havent used it.

You can get it at like Best Buy.
