I'm talking about restaurants where you get "curbside to go" food, not when you eat in the restaurant. I just don't even know if they are the ones packaging the food, etc. If someone works in a restaurant where they have this, that would be awesome - thanks!

Most people don't and you're really not suppose to, but sometimes a token shows a Person they are APPRECIATED.
That $1 may sometimes feed someone or even make that person feel they are cared about.

It depends. But usually no. As a former waitress I never expected a tip for a carry out. It's nice but I wouldn't feel snubbed if I didn't get one in most cases. I think you should tip if you have an order with a lot of substitutions or is complicated or a large order and it is correct and ready in a reasonable time. This is because the waitperson took the time to ensure the kitchen got the order correct and ready and it probably took time away from in house tables.

As for curbside service restuarants. I think it is not necessary to tip. Because the person who brings the food out is a food runner. Not a wait person and not the person who generally writes your order or checks your order. So I wouldn't it's their job to run it out to you. Some services are just that, Services and to be expected to tip for everything is just nuts, I wouldn't tip the person who cleared a dish or refilled a water glass or bread basket when they are not my wait person.

If you do, make it a dollar or so. I rarely do on to go orders, except from Sonic, which I tip 7-11%, because it is fast food car-hop style. Real restaurants, I would tip 10-20% dine-in only. Maybe 5% tip(about $1) for take-out.

That was a way that some people found to have a worker and that somebody else paid for it ,THE TIP,people do something for you and you say thank you with the tip, the restaurant owner pays about three dollars to the waiter, you pay the rest. Legally you don't have to but this people won't have any money if nobody tips, we started to believe it is a duty but it is a way to say thanks

We always tip at restaurants, even if we go to the local micro brewery and get some hot wings to go. Tipping is a way to let them know you appreciate what they do. We typically tip 15%, but more if the service is really good. I always appreciate when the wait people are friendly, come by to check if we need anything, promply remove empty plates and refill our beverages, then we tip them a good 20% or more.

Did you eat and ordered something to go? If you did, you should tip for the service provided to you, during your meal.
If you only stopped by at the restaurant, and ordered something to go, you don't have to tip...but I always give 1 or 2 dollars as I do to the delivery guy,but I don't know anyone whom does that, but me.

If it is from somewhere like Chili's, Sonic or a regular restaurant where someone takes your order, packages the food and brings it to you then yes...but a lesser amount. Regular fast food (Wendy's, Arby's, etc) of course not.

If someone is walking food out to your car in sweltering heat, rain, snow, hail, sleet, or a slight breeze, and all you have to do is roll down your window, could you at least spare them a buck for the trouble? I could. They are offering a service. Like hair dressers, servers, bar tenders, valet-type people, etc, they save you the trouble of doing the job yourself, so they should at least get something out of it besides the state mandated $6.50 an hour or whatever.

I do. The server is pays payroll taxes on a percentage of their total food and drink sales (including your take-out). Therefore the server gets to pay for the privledge of putting together your food. Additionally because it does take time and effort to put the order together with napkins, cutlery, season packets, etc. I tip 10% of the purchase for take out.

If they service you.when they give you extra whatever on the house. When they give you all the stuff you need to eat, sauces, condiments, utensils and so forth. Service people usually make minimum wage, so be nice and tip. Besides, they will remember you and next time you come in you will get your food hot and fresh and spit free.

I wouldn't. I don't know what people consider as far as that but the tip goes to the waiter NOT the Cook. If it was to the Cook then yeah I would but that's another issue.
