my new roomate is from china. She has a chiuahuah......that she abuses regularly. She hits it whenever she comes home and the dog pees in the apt. The dog is not allowed outside because she "does not like going on walks".

My roomate is leaving in sept and I want the dog so it doesnt have to put up with her anymore.....

the dog is so sweet and obviously scared of my roomate. How do i get the dog away from her and into my loving arms. I clean up everytime i see she made a mess and take the dog out when i can.....but its not working. The dog loves me and hides in my room....help

LISTEN.

Get the dog out of your apartment, no matter what the cost. Do you realize that abusing an animal is just as bad as abusing a child? If I were you I would find someone to take him/her for a short time, and tell her that the dog got out, and can't be found. What's she going to do? She's got a real control problem, actually a big psychological problem. You should be afraid of a person like this. If you fear she will become vindictive, for any reason, it's one month. Go with your gut feeling Don't let this dog go with her, no matter what! You can also call animal control, and get their advise. Also, when the dog is safe, you can change your locks. Believe me, she won't pursue you for long, because she obviously doesn't care about the dog, and people like this are really cowards. If you stand up to her, trust me, she will back down. Doesn't sound sound to me that you are likely to confront her.

E-mail me. I will try to help. I don't know the whole story. The dog needs to be with you.
WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T GIVE HER ANY IDEA THAT YOU ARE GOING TO ACT ON THIS. DO NOT ASK TO BUY IT. IF SHE BECOMES AWARE OF ANY PLAN YOU HAVE, THE DOG MAY BE IN GREATER DANGER.

Sit down with your roommate and talk to her about taking the pet. Try not to be too accusing (even though she sounds like a horrible person). If you can keep the conversation in a good tone, you'll be more likely to get what you want. Tell her that you know that the dog is a big burden for her; always making messes and demanding to be taken out. Tell her you would be happy to take the burden off of her hands for her. Try to make it seem like you're doing her a favor, instead of getting something for yourself. Let her know that you think it would be beneficial for everyone; you, her, and the dog. If that doesn't work and she refuses, call your local Animal Care and Control. Explain the whole situation to them, that she abuses the dog and that you would like to have it. They may come out and start an investigation. If they do, they will see that the dog likes you better, and they will be able to tell if she is mistreating it. They may be able to confiscate the dog from her, and hopefully help to make you her new owner. I would wait to do it until right before she moves out, though, and that way there won't be any hostility while she's still living with you. But hopefully it won't come to that, and you can get her to just give you the dog.

That is really bad. My cousin's brohter had a chauhiahua and his brohter hated it. Pepper would run under my feet whenever his brother walked in, scared.
Here are some opotions:
1. Take the dog, and board it, or keep it with a really trusted frined, so the person won't tell your rommie what you did, I like this one
2. Call the aspca, but ask to remain unidniffied, excuse the spelling
3. Take the dog and move away
4. Confront your friend about it, but make sure all knifes and guns are put away, just kidding,
I understant the jam you are in, i am sorry , and i hope you can get out of this jam why did she get the dog if she was not going to take care of it, it ticks me off when people do that. I hope you can take the poor dog out of it's tourture,
good luck
sorry I could not be of farther, uh, help.

I like the offer off taking the burden off her hands talk idea, you could sweeten the pot with $20 offer to BUY the dog or whatever you can afford & she seems likely to take. Be very careful of the "call SPCA" idea. Often they hold the dog till all legal matters are over - and that has been known to take 2 years! Not to mention that would definatly cause a BIG rift & if they don't see her hit the dog of enough evidence it may not result in any hlep to the dog.

wow that is so horrible. well you have few options if she is leaving for good.

first ,you can try to buy the dog from her.

second, since the dog is abused and this would only be helping it, i would wait until you know she has all her plans made to leave, this is bad but you are helping the dog, you can tell her that the door was left open and the dog got out. tell her that you looked everywhere. but really take the dog to a safe home until you know she is not coming back. you will have her dog and she will be gone.

third, go to your animal shelter and report her abuse tell them that you will adopt the dog. they will help and maybe then she won't hurt anymore animals.
but really i would do the second thing.

Report her to your local s.p.c.a. and they'll take the dog from her and keep it under evaluation for a while, to see how traumatized the poor thing is, and if it's ready to be adopted by someone, since you would be the one to report her, they would take that into consideration when it came time for adoption and would most likely keep your name at the top of the list. I really hate to say this because i dont normaly condone stealing but if it is the only other option you have left do it, just to keep the poor thing out of harms way.

I would take it to the pound when she leaves or have a friend hold it and say that he ran off somehow. Then when she leaves go get the dog and love it forever and make up for what she has done to the dog.

You could turn your roomate into SPCA for animal abuse and ask them about adopting it. If all else fails, hide the dog somewhere, chihuahuas are tiny dogs and can hide anywhere, and tell the roomate that she went missing.

You need to tell you roommate what she is doing to the dog and maybe you can tell her if she doesn't want the responsibility of a dog then you will take care of it and that if she says she just "wants" a dog but not the responsibility then she can come and see it when ever. try that

Call the cops and report it. You're a witness, and you have the right to get the dog if you care for it. Do you have anyone who's witnessed you taking care of it other than your roommate? Start with that.
