There are very few medications that can be safely taken while drinking alcohol. Many prescription drugs and even most over-the-counter medications carry a warning against using the drug while drinking alcohol.
Combining Alcohol And Prescription Drugs
The liver is responsible for the metabolism of a variety drugs and medications, some of which are regularly used by people who use alcohol. Since these drugs compete for the same pathway as alcohol to be broken down, the capacity of this pathway becomes strained. Thus, toxic levels of these drugs and/or alcohol accumulate in the body. This may lead to additional and often severe liver injury and may account for why some people develop a more rapidly progressive course of ALD than others.
The liver is a large organ, located just below the lungs on the right side of your body. The liver regulates the processing of nutrients and vitamins from the food you eat, both storing nutrients for later use and changing nutrients into forms that the body can use for energy. This is part of the process known as metabolism. The liver has many other important jobs: cleaning dead cells out of the blood, processing or metabolizing drugs, getting rid of toxic substances (alcohol, for example), producing bile (a substance that helps the body digest fat) and making factors that help your blood clot. Medical words for the liver usually start with hepat-, for example a doctor that specializes in the liver is called a hepatologist.

I was on accuntane and the doctor never told me not to drink (it could have been b/c i was underage at the time) but a friend of mine was told NOT to drink while on the medication. I think they tell you not to b/c of the effects on the liver that the accutane does plus alcohol would make it worse. I mean a drink here or there is not going to hurt you, But I especially wouldn't drink any alcohol before you go for your monthly blood test b/c that will make your liver results higher skewed.
Good Luck with the meds. It really made a huge difference in my life. I am very confident about my looks now! It was worth some of those annoying side effects.

It's not okay for pretty much any medication so if you can avoid it, you should. I've taken that- for acne right? Alcohol kills the effect of the meds. Be careful and steer clear of alcohol for better results.

I'm sure it won't kill you, but I don't think it's advised to drink alcoholic beverages while you're on any type of meds.

I wouldn't advise you to drink it may affect the way your medication will work. Although, my friend was on Accutane and she drank on rare occasions, and she was okay, but everyone is different, and everyone's body reacts to medications differently. You may want to consult with your pharmacist for more details. Or you can try www.rxlist.com
