i am also hypoglycemic and because i have had several episodes over the years i now carry glucose tablets (located in the diabetic section of your store). i chew a tablet and wait for about 5 minutes and if i need another one i take it. i use to eat something really quick when i started feeling an episode coming on however carrying around something to eat is not always the easiest thing to do. my doctor said eating 5-6 little meals everyday about every two-three hours apart would alleviate the problem too. i hear drinking milk when you feel an episode coming on works also. good luck....

Hypoglycemia is not something your husband and daughter have to deal with forever. My mother has it and I used to, but when I got sick with Strepp and Mono and Candida I went on a raw food diet and it changed so much! I also struggled with malabsorption, so fasting would never work for me, as it doesn't in most hypoglycemics. I can now go for longer hours than a regular person without eating (if I have to) and no more weakness or needing to sneak out all the time to eat something. Every once in a while if I don't start my day right, I need a boost, but most of the time, it is as if I never had it (and I had it my whole life. I'm 22 now.) Needing to rely on pills and crackers is a pain and inconvenient at times. Working on your body's way of eating and utilizing ALL foods works much better. You don't need to eat only raw foods after the initial process of getting well is over, either. And it is totally safe for kids! Take a look at the amazing stuff I saw at http://www.fredericpatenaude.com. It really changed my life and eating habits forever!

See a nutritionist. Ordinarily, children should not be on South Beach diet, but your husband would certainly benefit. I am hypoglycemic, and the SB diet is perfect. Try to limit your son's sugar intake - no fruit juices! They are horrible for kids! Water! Call your pediatrician and get hooked up with a nutritionist for your son, and get your hands on a copy of the South Beach diet for your hubby! Good luck!

Just make sure you keep track of what he eats, dont let him have too much sugar, but always have something on you incase he starts feeling unwell, like a sweet or something.
Unfortunately its really the only thing you can do for him.
