Tails are normally docked at 2 to 5 days of age. The older the animal, the larger the tail, and therefore the more traumatic the procedure becomes. If the puppy is more than 10 days old, the procedure should only be performed under anaesthesia, preferably not before 8 weeks of age.

Although, unless your dog is going to be in dog shows or is a breeder.......there's no need for the cosmetic mutation.

Four days is the limit. After that, it will be considered surgery and must be performed by a vet in case of excessive bleeding. Under four days, it can be done with the "ligature" method, which just causes the tail to fall off below a tight band with no bleeding.

Well you can dock them up to 5 days old but it would be considered a tail amputation instead.

Docking dogs is a sick practice. Their real tails and ears are very nice looking. Stop imposing your own twisted aesthetics on animals...cut off your own ears if you think docking is so hot.

3-5 days is the usual. How old is the puppy?????? A vet may call it amputation now and make you wait until it is older due to the need for anesthesia!!

Why in the world do you want to put the pup through a painful useless procedure? That is purely cosmetic and does nothing for the dog.

Why would you dock his tail? MinPins are so adorable and happy go lucky dogs. Don't you want to see his pretty tail wag like crazy whenever you come home?
Please don't do it !!!!!!!!!
