I got a ticket 3 years ago. I just got one recently around February. My car insurance will get renewed around August. When they renew my insurance and they estimate the new amount for my car insurance, will they find out about my recent ticket? I know the past one from 3 years ago will get dropped off since car insurance companies dont count tickets from 3 years ago, but will the one that I had from this year get counted into the new estimate this year?

Progressive? Probably won't dog your MVR and since you're over 25, you should probably see a reduction in your premium, that is if you haven't bought a newer car which will cause your Comp/Collision premium to increase.
Feel better? ;)

This is my profession, so I'll give an answer.
They may not "find out" unless they order a report from your state called a MVR (motor vehicle report). Most companies don't order one at every renewal, but yours may, if you're unlucky, and if it's been a while since they got one, it's quite possible they'll get one this time, especially since you have a "record", and you're probably under 21.
Also you should know some companies have a 5 year "experience period", so your other ticket may still be chargable.
Slow down, K? ;)

Your ticket 3 yrs ago will probably drop on the 3rd annversary year, that is, if the DMV has updated their record right after you had the ticket, sometime it takes them 6 months to do so. If not, then it will continue on until it hits the 3rd yr on your insur. co's record. Your tick this Feb will definitely be added. Insur co's run your dmv records 60 days before your renewal, so they would have picked it up. Just because your last tick was 3 yrs ago does not necessarily it will drop after 3 yrs. you may or may not have 2 points on this renewal. I am an ins. specialist, trust me..

If you buy a 12 month policy today and you get a ticket tomorrow it will not affect your rate until your next 12 renewal because that's when they will look at your driving record again. Also in California the ticket will not show up on your record until you pay the fine. You don't have a conviction date on your record until it is paid.

Due to companies now going on an individual basis they will eventually run a mvr, and find the ticket, but since it is based on the individual as long as your credit is good and you have no claims, pay the bill on time it wont be such a huge difference. But it seems that since your watching the one from 3 years ago come off, they will likely check it sooner than later.

Usually, the MVR is run every other renewal after you hit twenty-five. You have a 50/50 changes of it NOT being run.

Since something is falling off, they may order it to confirm the driving history.

And depending on the DMV, they may actually be backlogged for a few months - and not actually add it to the MVR.

Probably not unless they run a check.
