My family didn't have many rules, or take much time with us, but one rule we did have was that I couldn't date until I was 16. My Dad chaperoned every dance I went to (including my first date) until I graduated from HS (I'm NOT kidding! My Senior Homecoming dance? My dad was there). Although humiliating at the time, it kept me from sneaking away and drinking/smoking/doing drugs with my friends/boyfriends. I know that the "No Dating Until You're 16" rule will be enforced with my children - boys or girls.
BTY - 5th grade is WAAAAY to young!!

I think it depends on the maturity of the person, the situation, and the influences that surround the situation.
I have 3 teenage boys. My oldest was slow in maturity but wise in the company he kept so at 17 I was comfortable with most situations. My middle son is girl crazy and I have to keep eye on hime and make sure parents are present and so forth. So it all depends on the person and what they can handle.

Their really is no 'age' for kids to start dating. The right thing to do would be to talk with your parents or and older relative/friend and to also go by the rate you mature. You can be a 25yr. old baby or a 12 yr. old woman... depends on how quickly you mature.

At least a freshman in High School. That would be the best age to start dating.

16 they are mature enough to go alone on a date. 15 they need to be in a group. And 13-14 they need to have a parent presant.
