No there is not a standard or rule about the height. A have seem courses with a hole the requires a 12 to 15 foot pole. The reason is the hole is so steep going up to the green, it requires a longer pols so you can see the flag. The course I'm thinking about is on a Air Force base in San Antonio TX.

There is no official height that the pin or flagstick in golf, because of the varying elevations on a golf course the height of a pin can change because in needs to be visible from certain locations. The usual height seems to be 7 or 8 feet. I found one website sells 8 foot high flagsticks.

There must be a standard for flag stick height because distance finders used by golfers calculate the distance to the green by where the top of the flag stick appears in a distance chart in comparison to the green level. Though I have seen some extremely large flags for hidden greens on rinky-dink courses, the standard is 7'. A hidden green is just that, a hidden green with no sight of the flag.

The USGA recommends they be at least seven feet in height.
