You didn't define "worst" and that can mean anything.
I HATE Newark... but other Airports, like Mumbai, London Gatwick, Luton International (snicker, snicker), De Gaulle and just about any airport in the Caribbean would make the list.
There are some airports that scare the daylights out of me... mostly military airports that end at the base of a mountain and have a notation on the approach plates saying "Go Around Impossible" . Then, there is the one for (I think) Geneva... that says "IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU FLY THIS APPROACH VFR FIRST TO DETERMINE IF YOU REALLY WANT TO TRY IT IFR".
The best, or worse, used to be Hong Kong where the approach plate showed a crossed checkered flag like the NASCAR checkered flag... and the reminder that you had to turn RIGHT for the runway upon reaching the huge billboards on the mountain side and not turn LEFT because you would be shot down if you went that way.

From a pilot perspective, I cannot imagine a 'worst' airport. They are all fun and some very challenging to fly into. However, as a passenger - La Guardia. The terminal area in La Guardia where I was - has a single restroom with a big, shiny steel door. Now - it doesn't say that it is for both men and women - so, having needing to go in there, I open the door - and there's a woman in there! She didn't lock the door! I just went in and started to do my thing like it was nothing at all. When I'm in there, I then hear somebody knocking on the door. Must have been a local who knew better.
That is why I say La Guardia is the most backwards, worst airport ever!

Depends on what you mean by "worst". For large commercial airports, from a pilot's perspective, the worst was probably the now-retired Kai Tak Airport in Hong Kong, where the instrument approach involved a sharp right turn on final. The plane flew the descent profile to a hill marked with a checkeboard sign, started the turn around 650 feet AGL and exited the turn at about 140 feet, just in time to line up on the runway and flare for landing.
Gusty crosswinds during monsoon season made it even more exciting.

Flying into San Diego with the approach over the city. Close approach to buildings. As far as transfers are concerned Philly has to be the worst. Even told travel agent to avoid philly even if I had to pay more. I once spent more time at that airport than I did flying both legs. Orginal flight had no layover.

Mumbai and Delhi...Mumbai is India's busiest, catering to more than 30 % of the country's passengers and over 520 flights per day.
On a brighter note...the best? Hong Kong International, Seoul's Icheon and Singapore's Changi.
Happy Trails.

Also from a pilot's view...
Black-hole approaches, couldn't agree more.
Or airports between/next to hills and high ground...especially on a commonly lee side to the wind.

The new airport in Denver....the place is so huge, if you're transferring planes there, it can be difficult to catch your next flight if there isn't much time...
