the other day i went to the barn but didn't do any riding, i went to see the horse that i could possibly start riding and he is 19 and he is a calm and very sweet so i think i am leaning toward wicked excited to be able to start riding again....another reason why I didn't get on sooner was that I was ready to go back as soon as my wrist healed and then the barn i was riding at closed down

I am 11 years old and fell of the horse that I go riding on about a month ago. I fell of and landed on my back, it hurt, but it is a better place to land than your sides, head or stomach. I stood back against the fence post while my instructor worked out what had happened.
I was sore, but I was back on in about 6 minutes. I feel that was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
Try getting on and going for a bit of a walk, maybe a trot and a canter if you're really feeling brave.
You won't regret it. After all, everyone has to fall off at some point. All the best riders in the world have fallen off at some point.
Don't let this little incident spoil the fun of riding.

Been there dont that....except my horse rolled on me, and i broke several bones and dislocated a few joints. My horse also had a few injuries....
My first comment, is about you riding the younger horse, if your nerves are already at edge because of you last spill.....riding a younger horse is not the answer.....its another accident waiting to happen, and maybe a worse one at that. The horse can sense your uneasiness, and nervousness, and therefore it will cause him to react in the same way, except that he is about 150 times stronger and more powerful, he is happened to do just about anything, from rearing, bucking and bolting.
I'd say find another older horse like before, or even the same one that you fell off of, it wasn't your fault nor the horses for your spill, so no blame should be there. Things like this happen all the time, horses like people can be clumsy from time to time, like we stub our toes or run into things.
Go back and ride a older calmer horse so that you can once again build your confidence.
One saying that always helps me....is not fear thy horse, but respect his great power!
If a horse DIDNT want you riding him.....you wouldnt be.

I understand what you are going through. I also know that I am one of the more stubborn people that you could meet in your entire life. My horse didnt fall when I sprained my wrist, he jsut tripped and I wasnt using my stirrups. I knew that I was in pain and I knew that I hd to get back on. I was simply to far from the farm to walk back. I managed to throw my self into the saddle somehow. We walked back very slowly. My grandfather had to untack my horse for me so that my grandma could take me to the ER. I continued to ride with a sprained wrist, I just rode bareback so that I wouldnt get caught. I never once felt fear since I got back on immediately.
I did have a horse fall on me once. I came out unhurt and he was just a little sore in his front legs for about a week. That was a crazy experience. Dont be nervous. Just get out there and do it. There is nothing like climbing back into the saddle. Dont think about what happened to you, dont think about the millions of freak accidents that could happen. This is how a lot of people become deathly afraid of a horse. You can do it, You have done it before. I wish you the best of luck getting your @** back in the saddle.
I am going to say my favorite term in the world to you and I hope that it is a source of inspiration- Cowgirl Up!

YES GET BACK UP ON THAT HORSE !!! I mean this. I have been ridding for years and have fallen off many times. I have gotten back up and had gotten right back on the horse. The only time I did not get back up on the horse was when I was bucked off and hurt my self, the entire right side of my body was badly bruised, thats all Thank God. But after I healed I walked back up to the same place that I got bucked off the horse. The manager was very suprised. That I would do it. Its the old saying, if you fall dust your self off and get back on. Its also good therapy. Taking lessons is a good thing it will give you good strength.

Go for it!
You need to get back on - just take it easy though! Find a nice horse who you are comfortable with, and find a good instructor who will support you, not "push" too hard. You want to overcome a bit of fear, and then advance your skills - not go jumping around 4" oxers the next week!
Falls WILL happen. To everyone. Every horse may fall at some point - mine did 2 weeks ago--just lost his footing (and he wasn't paying too much attention to where he was going! Clutzy FEI dressage horse!). Just get back on, go for an easy hack, or a mini lesson the first time back in the saddle. After that, you'll be fine! (Safety helmets, right????)

I would really give it a try. If you love horses so much then you should try it again. All you have to do is not think about what had happened. I have fallen so many times and one was extremely bad. My horse had a birds nests fall onto her butt and she took off and started bucking. I was doing leg exercises and I fell off and almost got my head trampled. I got back on and I was glad I did because that was one off the last time I rode her before she died. I strongly advice you to try it again.

get back on now or you'll never get back to it. if i was a scary fall, think what happened to cause it? you can try to prevent it. if you're scared, take lessons and talk to your instructor to prevent falling again. everyone falls off, i've fallen off for a million different reasons, and i'm still riding good and happy. you may want to lounge your horse or let him run a while before you get back on - riding after that means you can have some major explosive energy under your saddle! trust me, i know! be careful out there, but have some fun!

You should have gotten on RIGHT after you fell off!! Horses tend to take advantage of people who start to think about getting on WAY after they fall off. When you do ride again, DO NOT act scared, because the horse will try to take advantage of you. Not kidding. They smell fear.
Hope this helps!!!!!!!!!!!
