I definitely recommend that you check out HollandAmerica for your cruise to Alaska. It is A+++++. My husband and I just returned home from our 1st cruise - it was wonderful. Celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary.
Just make sure that you bring/use something for motion sickness. I'm not usually sensitive to it and I felt a bit queasy on the days we were at sea. I'm still swaying a bit even though we disembarked at 9 a.m. Friday (6/23)! The HollandAmeria cruiseline is owned by Carnival (I didn't know that before!). There was something for every one of all ages to do, or not - it's whatever you want. Have fun! We did.

Royal Caribbean or Celebrity are the best. Actually Celebrity is owned by Royal Caribbean.

You can save a lot by going early or late in the season. If you can go on a couple weeks notice check last minutes specials. When they realize they have a half empty ship they cut fares drastically. Don't be afraid of an inside stateroom. It will save a light if money is tight & everything else is the same. You won't be in your stateroom except to sleep anyhow.

Let me give you a couple tips. Don't go round trip Vancouver up to Alaska & back to Vancouver. You spend too much time cruising the inside passage.

Depart from Seaward and end in Vancouver (or vice versa). You get to see more ports.

Fly to Anchorage, spent the night at a hotel then take the scenic train to Seward. Really neat ride.

Good stops on Alaska cruises are Icy Strait Point, Juno, Ketchican, Skagway.

Be sure to take the narrow gauge railroad (White Pass & Yukon Route) out of Skagway into Canada & ride the bus back rather then the train. That way you bget to see more. A great trip not to be missed.

Have a great time.

Royal Caribbean is my personal favorite, but Princess also has very good Alaska cruises. Stay away from Carnival, you'll only get what you pay for there.........

Just so you know, Alaska cruises are not usually going to be cheap. They are in high demand and the Alaska season is only from about mid May to mid September. Try going at the beginning or the end of the season to find a lower price.

I would say if you are wanting to stay within a lower price, you should look into either Carnival or Royal Caribbean. These are generally the least expensive options. Some of the other lines are a little more costly and upperclass. Alaska tends to be a destination for older, more wealth couples, so there are fewer options.

But I would look into either Carnival or Royal Caribbean, the other option would be NCL, but that is going to be getting a little higher. Unless you can find a good deal from a travel agent or something, you probably won't find a line much lower.

Carnival will be your best value however keep in mind that Carnivals sister cruise line Princess owns much of the area in Alaska that you will visit for your excursions which means that you Princess is taken care of perhaps better than most other cruise lines for its excursions. We recomend Princess to all our clients who can afford it. You can visit twototravel.com or search for us on the web with the keyword phrase "bc travel company" for more information.
