As I got home from another country, she didn't expected I would come home for valentines day. It was a tuesday night as I called her that I was home and asked her to look outside her window. Then she saw me standing outside her house with the cellphone on my ear and carrying 3 red roses... She ran so fast and hugged me so tight. She cried of happiness... That was the most romantic thing ever... It's because we haven't seen each other for months.

In my college Humanities class, we were taking a trip to the Detroit Institute of Arts. We were allowed to bring a friend. So I planned on taking my Girlfriend. Across the street from the Art Institute, is the Detroit Public Library. So that thursday night, right before the library closed, I went in there, and put a card I wrote for her inside a book - in the Shakespeare section on the second floor. I put it inside the page of one of the Sonnets - My Darling Bud of May, Thou Art So Lovely and So Temperate. (Don't remember the number of the sonnet or the exact wording.) Anyhow, so after we were done at the Library, class was over and we spent some more time together. I told her I wanted to show her the sonnet that I liked. So we went upstairs, and I asked her to help me find the book. I pointed to it, I said, "what about that one?" She pulled it down, opened the book, and inside, was the card I put in there the night before. She cried and cried and cried over that. She laid the card and the book out on a table and took pictures of it. It was beautiful.

During a carriage ride with another couple through Atlanta, I paid the driver 20 bucks to stop in traffic and ran back to a corner vendor and bought a dozen roses.

It seemed to be a good move at the time...not an all out evening with a great dinner or somesuch...

Taken her on a surprise trip to Prague after arranging things with about 20 different agencies. (She's in charge of a big department and has meetings all the time - so fixing it to get a week off & stop her from finding out was a nightmare) - But - She loved it!

Sometimes the smallest things can mean the most. My boyfriend sent me a bouquet of flowers on the anniversary of my mothers death to cheer me up, it showed that he cared AND that he'd been listening to me coz i didn't even remember telling him the date!

So i would suggest picking up on stuff that is important to her, if she looks at something in a shop window and says she likes it, try remembering it for a birthday, or if she texts you saying she's had a bad day, go round with a bottle of wine or something she loves, just because!

my b/f sends me sweet text messages when I am least expecting them and he makes me lunch to bring to work and writes cute things on notes to put inside my lunch box. That means the world to me as I often have tough days at work and it cheers me up.
