I use a knife to pierce it through the center (it should be no resistance).

In large chunks, 30 - 40 minutes. The potato will break off easily with a fork.

a whole potato??? a really long time....but if you cut it into chunks...about ten minutes or until you can stick a fork into one of the largest chunks and it kinda crumbles....don't wait too long though otherwise they're overcooked and not too good after that....

Until it's soft in the middle. Poke it with a fork and if it goes in easily, it's done.
