this is NOT a scam and not particularly true... you don't need an Internet connection to install Windows.... you need an internet connection to download updtaes and to evrify that you are running Genuine Microsoft Products.. and there is no limitation...
Microsoft does receive information, but not on a "secretive" way..
it always tells you what it's going to do..
I know since aI workd there....

Yeah it is true. It is also true that windows XP sucks up way more RAM than win2K and so slows your PC a bit. It slows you too should you be used to hit Ctrl+F for search like I often do then type and hit enter when you use XP you cannot, you must click here and then click there. XP has been designed with beginners in mind so it has some fancy graphics and it isn't as "direct" as win 2k is, I have it, have paid for it but use win2k instead, it is way better. Most people would walk with a pole up the butt if advertising said it's cool to do that. They already do with XP, each and every day.

You can only install the software about three to four times before it will no longer allow you to activate the cd key. When you activate it allows microsoft the cd key information and the number of times its been used. It is only giving microsoft that information...of course when you activated it...you gave microsoft all you information so microsoft isn't getting information "secretly"...you provided it. Microsoft knows that people may need to reload windows once in a while and therefore allows for the reload but after so many times...you have to buy more software. I suggest you load your system...activate the key....and then immediately back up your system...that way if possible you can install from backup...otherwise use xp pro.

you can reinstall as many times as you want ..as long as you install on the same pc. the info it sends is a registration number that is generated by the different components in your pc. it don't send any personal info . what it sends is a 42 ditg.number .

Sounds like rubbish to me - as long as you have a licence, you should be able to reinstall as many times as you like.

Even if its true, im sure you you could find key generators to produce a new unique valid key.

You can install it as many times as you need to as long as you are not installing it on more than one computer. You are not supposed to put any operating system on more than one computer! If you put XP on more than one computer then Microsoft will shut you down!

Just call them if it doesn't allow you to activate windows.
I haven't yet seen them refuse to give you a code "if your legit"
