My trainer has been teaching me this because I have balance and I'm only 5'2" so It's easier to get inside. He told me it was a style Tyson used (I dont know **** about boxing history or current because well now that I've gotten into it I dont have much free time with work added) What is everyone elses opinion on bobbing and weaving? Has anyone tried it and is it very affective?

I just realized I can't answer my own question so lets try this I'm still new to this site.

Oddly enough I got into boxing for physical fitness at a gym my brother use to work at. Instead after just a glimpse of it I wanted to take it all in, I am now a manager working at this gym which is nice because It's cheaper. When you look at me you will probably feel I dont fit into boxing, I wear versace glasses and I have pink boxing gloves lol I come from a upper middle class family and really dont have to work if I dont want to. Boxing is probably the strangest thing to happen to me but I'm in love with it and I'm there all the time, I want to learn all styles of boxing. I want to train and eventually when ready compete :)

Its effective cause the lower you are to the ground the harder you will be to place a square hit on. Bobbing and weaving makes your opponent work that much more harder to lay their hands on you... and Tyson lived and died in the ring with that technique... and if your counter part is taller than you, bobbing and weaving will work wonders !!

well you better use your hard earned money to buy a tape of Mike Tyson because at 5'2" you have no choice but to bob and weave because you will probably never meet anyone shorter than you. Well, at least not in your weight category. And if you don't learn to do it, you will get your little *** beat.

I used to box and I learned how to bob and weave. It's designed to get inside your opponent's reach so you can reach them with your punches. A good example of this style is Joe Frazier.
