When an Injured Worker needs special assistance, i.e. help with cooking, nursing care, cleaning house, etc., the workers comp carrier will always look to see if a doctor has issued a prescription.

In the vast majority of cases, the request MUST be carefully worded.

Oftentimes, it can be like pulling teeth in getting workers comp to pay for something like that.

#1 There must be a documented need for that type of request.

#2 The need for the services must be connected to your workers comp injury.

#3 Your treating physician has to FIRST give you a prescription - along with a copy to the workers comp carrier.

#4 Your treating doctor must be able to justify WHY you need those services, from a medical standpoint.

#5 The basis for the request must be to cure or relieve you from the effects of your injury.

Good luck.

Workers comp is $$$. It's a fund from your state that will pay you while you are out of work.

Your Dr has to prescribe that you need help. For anything to be paid the Dr has to say its medically needed.
