My mum is only in her 50's and she had to pay, it cost a fortune actually. I think that dental treatment is free for the retired, she would however have to pay and then claim it back. Thats what they make you do in most places now. Where do u live?: Im speaking from a point of view of the uk.

If she already has some false teeth that fit fine and don't hurt then she probably wont be able to but if she can convince her dentist to refer her to an NHS dental hospital where they do them then she may be able to, if she can convince the dentist that the ones she has aren't right for her.
As she is retired I'm sure she should be entitled to at least some kind of contribution towards them. I'd ask the dentist for more information.
