It's not good because then your body begins to use it's fat for energy...and when you start eating again it will cause you to gain more weight than before.

If you are not eating today or any time soon and your purpose is not to loose weight, then are you fasting for a diffrent reason?

You may loose a little weight, but your body goes into a "survival mode " storing calories needed for energy. When you go off the fast you might fing that you gain some weight, because your metaobolism is confused. You should research this decision carefully. You don't want to dehydrate your body either.

I am only responding to offer suggestions I have never fasted, You should at least talk to someone who works with natural foods and supplements for advice.

I've done it because I lost my appetite after a concussion. I lost 10 pounds after 3 days. The problem is that I measured and it was mostly muscle. It came right back after eating because the muscle was able to rebuild and the fat built faster since my metabolism slowed. Since muscle is so dense, you are not losing that much in size compared to if it was all fat. Your body starts doing unhealthy things to try to “keep you alive” too.

The smarter way would be to target your fat and keep your metabolism high by building muscle. Eat about 1,500 calories a day, 80% from protein, do circuit weight lifting and about 30 minutes of low intensity aerobics (you need oxygen going to your muscles to burn fat so don’t do high intensity/speed on the treadmill) for 3 days a week alternating weight lifting/aerobics.

The scale wont show that you are losing weight, but your dress size will. With the extra muscle on your body, you’ll raise your metabolism so you’ll burn more calories doing nothing.

So don’t try the not eating thing. It’s damaging and useless.

First, thats stupid. Second, by not eating your body will lack energy. You wont lose weight because your body will store the fat longer since it will think it is starving. Do some research. You will lose more weight eating 3-4 sensible meals a day then you will not eating for 3 days!

I didn't eat for three days and I lost 9 pounds... I gained it all back and then some afterward, but yes, I did lose weight, and you will too. It's SO not healthy...

I know you said losing weight was not the reason for you doing this, but if that's not true, and you DO wanna lose weight, the BEST SITE IN THE WORLD IS sparkpeople.com! Check it out!!!

I have always been thin but still I do fasting (not eating) like Jesus, Moses, Mahatma Gandhi, Socrates, Plato and Mark Twain. I Iike the 5 day fast since it appears to be minimum to really get the full health benefits. I always benefit from it.

Many misunderstand it and are prejudiced against it. The devil tried to get Jesus to stop fasting. For info from 8 medical doctors on fasting plus specific info on using it to lose weight see site below. As far as mental clarity, Pythagoras (Pythagorean theory) fasted for 40 days before an examination. See home page on how to keepthe weight off.

I don't know if you realized this just yet but the lack of energy from not eating anything is really affecting your grammer. It should be "eaten" not "ate". Therefore, I think you should start eating 3 healthy meals a day, lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Also, drinking one glass of water before every meal will help you lose weight.

I've done it countless times, stress related. I"ve gone 5 days w/out food. It's not going to help you lose weight. Your body will think you're starving & store the fat. If you think you have bulimia or anorexia, get help! It's serious & deadly.
