Surely it is a sin to threaten someone into doing something (under Christianity). Therefore by saying "you will go to hell unless you live your life by these rules" is threatening people to live in a certain way. Therefore Christians are commiting a sin in their own religion.

Yes, they are judging others, and their own book tells them not to.

Depends on what the criteria is for "sin". To say that someone will go to hell unless they follow these rules is kind of over the top. It's not necessarily a threat to those who don't follow a religion/atheist. Unless, a christian start to physically threaten someone, then you can call it a sin. I highly doubt it would make a huge difference if a religious freak would do such a thing. Then again, there are a lot of criminals who use religion as a basis for their actions.

Back to your question, though, those who teach (not threaten) their religion (Christianity or otherwise) aren't committing sin. Being under the Catholic religion, I would agree that some take it to a lower level of civility, but since I don't follow my own religion (nor any other), I could care less if someone gets in my face and spews religious threats. In the end, I will commit sin by beating the ever-loving crap out of the freak.

You choose Heaven or hell. We don't' force that on you. If you live by the world you are under the law not grace and you will be judged by the law so If you need grace, (because no one can keep the whole law) God made a way so we can have grace. You have to decide whether or not to receive that gift. You can choose to walk away from that table. Living the life isn't a matter of a set of rules that isn't true Christianity. It's a personally relationship with the Savior, A true christian doesn't follow the rules because they have to they do it because they WANT TO. If any man is in Christ he is a new creature. He got saved from the old life of sin he doesn't want to go back to that life.

It is not a sin to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. If someone has threatened you to try to get you saved, then they are going about it the wrong way. You can't force someone else to believe what you believe.
Most christians share the gospel because God loves His children, themselves and those they are speaking to, so they can be saved from the fires of Hell. He is the truth and the light, and His truth will see through even those "christians". Every thought, every word, every good or bad work that you do is seen by God and everyone will be judged by God. God knows your heart. He is going to bring up every good and bad thing you have done or ever thought of doing on judgement day.
The "rules" you are referencing are God's laws that all people will be judged by on judgement day. Stealing, adultery and lust are just a few common sins committed by non-believers and believers every day. This person who made you believe you were being "threatened" by the word of God probably has their own demons to battle. And yes, they probably had your best interest at heart, but they were being judgemental at the same time. Believe this, God is the only judge and every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that He is God on judgement day. If you feel you are ready to commit your life to Christ, simply ask Jesus into your heart and ask for forgiveness of your sins. He will come into your life, wash all sin away, and you can go forward with your life living for Him. Don't worry about anyone else's faults. Everyone has issues or excuses as to why they don't believe or pretend to believe. If you trust that Jesus died on the cross for YOU and your sins, along with everyone else's, then you can receive the gift of salvation. Being a christian doesn't mean you stop doing stuff that's fun or listen to good music. It simply means that you no longer fear death, because you are going to a place so magnificent that you want everyone you know, your friends and your loved ones to be there with you.

They are not threatening you.
They are making a statement that they believe to be a fact.
You may feel threatened by the possibility of this being true.

It's like telling someone "That's hot and will burn you!"
Some will disregard the warning and touch it anyway, with burns being a consequence. Others will get upset because someone told them "NO", and either touch it or at least pause enough to think about it. Still others will be grateful for the fact being brought to their attention. The statement itself was not meant to be threatening, but the consequences disregarding it can be.

Was the statement made in love? If the person didn't really care, they would just let you go ahead and touch it. If the statement was made with intention to control or co-hearse, then you can say their motives may have been selfish.

I see what you're getting at but you're looking at it from your own perspective (probably quite understandable since if you aren't a Christian you can't look at it from ours!). In Christianity the great commission is to tell people the good news about Jesus. I can say with no doubt that I know it's the truth but I can't make you believe it. Only God can do that, through the Holy Spirit. But look at it this way. If someone told you that the only way to cure for example AIDS is to jump up and down wearing a blue boiler suit then roll in mud and eat 7 jam sandwiches, it would sound stupid. Assume for a moment it's true. Would you be annoyed that someone told you the truth, no matter how stupid or foolish or illogical it sounded? And if you didn't do it and stayed ill, who's fault would it be?
Christians aren't always too good at tactfully spreading the word of God, but they are (nearly) always doing it because of love.

Ok then, is it a sin to just simply watch your friend and brother get run over by a car, or would you warn him/her first? The truth is, without Jesus you will not go to heaven, you cant have a relationship with God, there is no forgiveness of sin without Jesus.
Imagine you are in court- you are without doubt guilty, and the judge prenounces sentance on you. He gives you a 3 million pound fine that you cant pay, so you are about to be led to the jail, when someone you dont even know in the public gallery of the court stands up and pays the fine for you. What would you think of that person? Well, that is exactly what Jesus did for us all- he paid the penalty on behalf of us all on Himself. Through Him we have forgiveness, relationship and eternal life. Without Him, there is nothing you can do of yourself that will save you- religion will not save you, doing good deeds will not save you, keeping a set of rigid laws, religious rites etc will not save you- only by accepting the free gift given by God in the shape of his Son and trusting in Him, letting Him teach and change you will. Jesus done away with the tyranny of sin and religion, to bring us again back to the family of God. It has never been about religion- in fact, Yeshua called all of those who practised religion "serpents, brood of vipers," "Hypocrites," He even said, "How can you escape the condemnation of hell?" Mathew 23 will tell you what God thinks of religious people!!! With God it has never been about religion, but relationship. Like the story of the prodigal son, God just wants us to come home.

No. It most certainly is not. We never threaten or judge anybody. We only warn that if you don't believe in Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, that you will burn in Hell. Romans 3:23 says: "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" Therefore, all men are sinners and we don't judge. Nobody but Yourself and God can know your heart, and NO MAN should ever judge what you feel in your heart. John 3:16-18 says: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. "
All you have to do is confess that you are a sinner, repent of your sins and trust in Jesus, that he died for YOU on the cross of Calvary, and you won't have anything to worry about.

That's a distorted argument. If I tell someone "Hey, if you don't start looking both ways before you go running out in the street you are going to get run down by a car and killed" is that a threat or a warning?

It's the same way with telling someone that if they don't accept the free gift God has made available to all who turn to Christ then they are going to end up in hell.

I am not sure I understand what you mean by threaten into doing something such as hell. The basis to this belief is that you can only live eternity with God in heaven is by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. If you don't accept him you will spend eternity in Hell. For every action there is a reaction common Law of nature and God works that way to. He never forces us. We have a free choice. I choose to live with God in Heaven someday , but others may choose Hell to live in for eternity. Your choice....

Those who teach christianity are helping God spread his word. You will actually be rewarded in the long run for teaching his word. But saying that is threatening yes but it is truth if you dont live your life according to what the bible says then you will go to Hell. But if you live your life according to the bible you will have everlasting life.
