A 15 year old is not emotionally mature enough to handle alcohol. In fact, many 21 year olds aren't either! You hit the nail on the head when you said "kids"....15 is still a kid.

It is illegal for kids under 21 years old because it could affect their growth and/or body when they are growing up. When you are growing up a lot of things could go wrong, add alcohol and that is just a recipe for trouble. How do you know nothing is wrong with your brother? For example, lets say he is studying at a level 7 (1 being the lowest, 10 being the highest) but if he hadn't drunk all that alcohol he could be studying at a level 9. That's the thing, if it doesn't affect you physically, you'll never really know.

We already know what alcohol does to infants when the mother drinks, why would you want to take the risk and drink at the age of 13 or 15. Be safe, avoid any of that stuff as much as you can.

This is just the age the government chose to set. I mean, I live in Ontario, Canada and ours is 19 but when my parents were younger, it was 18. However, keep in mind that the age of 21 is when you can go out and drink at a bar. You can drink younger at home and, in fact, I started having wine with dinner at family functions when I was 12. As long as you are smart about it and know your limits and don't over do it, there's really no reason why you can't have a drink every now and then at home for a meal or something.

The simple answer is that the entire system is backward...the real comparison is this - Why would they allow you to drive at 16 and potentially kill ANOTHER person, but not drink until 21 when you are only hurting yourself? The ETHICS behind the age of 21 are also skewed. Logically, you would think that, at the age of 21 instead of the age of 15, that you would have better judgement, but this is most definitely not true. It IS true that there are as many irresponsible adults in the world as children, and that an age-based prohibition really is not the answer for anything. It SHOULD be based on a per-capita psychological evaluation determining if you are ready to control yourself in such a confusing situation.

When you're 21 you're more responsible for yourself cause you don't rely so much on your parents anymore but if you're 15 you just want to experience new things without your parents knowing and start learning about the real world.Your brother should stop drinking as soon as possible cause he might not have anything serious or strange right now but trust me in the future his drinking will have some side-effects.

My best friends father passed away a few years ago cause he was addicted to drinking and he was just 45 years old.

I somewhat agree with what your saying, but stop and think for a bit. Your learning years don't stop at 15, 18 or even 21. Rightfully they really don't stop at all as far as I'm concerned as I believe we learn something new everyday. But your true learning is actually up to age 25. If say for instance that you started drinking at 15. What do you think you would learn in school if you went with a hang over? Absolututely nothing. Besides, drinking at younger ages puts you in a predicument of being constantly in trouble and trouble is definately what you don't want. Some use to think the age should be 18 because if your old enough to fight for your country you should be old enough to drink. That too is hog wash. I know. Those were my thoughts until I had children of my own and wanted them to have a decent education and realized to do that that the law should remain as it is and has. Get a good education first then enjoy what you will, but in moderation and not like some of these jerks who brag about what they do.

Actually the fifteen year old could have a lot more problems than the 21 year old.Maturity and street smarts being the biggest stumbling blocks. But as far as the law, there is a lot of inconsistency.States use to mandate their own drinking age up until the 1980's when it became federal law in the US.To protect the children. But the same government doesn't have a problem sending those same kids off to fight their war.Go figure.

I am not really sure why its 21. Some places its 18. On this cruse that I went on this summer the drinking age was 15. I dont get the drinking age either

It's one of the worst laws they probably have out there. Go to Europe. They dont have a legal drinking age, and that is probably why your brother doesnt have a problem. I have Family in Italy, they dont even know what alcoholism is. They drink from the time they are like 7 so that they can learn that it can really mess you up. same as when most people learned that a stove is hot when on. I'm 21 hell no I'm not touching the stove.

The human body continues to grow untill you are about 25 years old. This could be growth that you don't see. For example your internal organs, most importantly brain and heart. That's the main reason there is a set drinking age and it's 21. Also, it is important to know that the U.S. has the highest drinking age of any nation in the world.

We assume that by the time a child reaches the age of 21 years he/she becomes a responsible person as by that time your brain too fully developes. Therefore, at that age you make your choice to drink or not to drink. To become a drunkard or not. Below 21 years you are not yet ready to make such a choice as one is too young and your brain has not developed fully. Your brother started early and I assume he still drinks knowing this is bad for health. So watch out and be careful of yourself.
