if you want a seriously though out answer, here it is. the egg of course, why -

the egg has been a birth vessel used by creatures for the last 400+ million years. dinosuarse gestated in eggs, and they existed LONG before any chicken. if you take a good look at the feet of tree dwelling bird, like robins or hawlks youl notice the claws look like they came from a velocial raptor of the jurasic period, though there are gapos in the evolutionary records, bird came from one line of the dinosuare family, but those records are in rock which is vonarable to weathering by air and water

to answer the question yes the egg came first, fish use them, then the anphibians, then the reptials, then birds, mamalls dont becuase the young are born completed with out the need for the egg to finish the job

It depends on your definitions.

If a "chicken egg" is an egg laid by a chicken, then the chicken came first.

If a "chicken egg" is instead an egg containing a chicken, then the egg came first.

I win.
