I think Sam Adams "Utopia" is like $100, but really hard to find. Price doesn't always equal better taste. If your buddies like to try different beers, how about a differnt brand like Smuttynose or Peroni? These are relatively easy to find and a little different.

Thomas Hardy ale comes in vintage labled bottles,keeps for decades
St Michlaus is only brewed in winter in Switzerland,about 14%
A couple of english breweries will do lables on their bottles designed for you,get that shipped over and itll be dear
Rochfort abbey beer is only available at the abbey gate,and they dont sell you much at a time

Dark ale : Samuel Adams or get some Fosters, or Heineken, Good stuff.. and if you really like Dark Ale u can get some Newcastle's
