One word: Prolactin! Have someone or else you yourself can stimulate your breasts by rubbing yhour nipples. This will cause uterine contractions. Prolactin is what Oxytocin was built upon and once delivery occurs, what causes uterine contractins necessary for the birth of the placenta.
I don't expect you to be back here in 24 hours to rate these answers because it sounds like you are ready to rumble anytime now! Good luck!
( ADDED: next evening!) Interesting! This questioner has not weighed back in on her question. Let's hope that we all were helpful to her and her beautiful, healthy, wonderful baby!!!!!

I was due 12/25/05. I wanted to be home for my daughter's birthday on 12/26. My midwife told me to drink 2 oz. of castor oil and 4 oz. of coke. Then follow up with a resee cup because the peanut butter helps get the oily feeling out of your throat from the castor oil. I drank the mixture at 7 a.m. and I was in labor by 1p.m. the same day. If you try this do not do it at night because it gives you horrible diarrhea. It's an old southern solution.

You seem to be in early labor and you need to REST. Walking can help once your labor has gotten into a good pattern but for now, you need to save as much energy as you can for the active labor later on! Eat a high protein meal, take a warm (not too hot) bath or shower, and try to get extra sleep. The bath may help to reduce some of your pain. If your partner is with you, have him give you a back rub or foot massage, something to help you relax a bit. Good luck!

well, I have heard sex helps, but you said you don't want to do that. I understand - being pregnant is not always the best mood maker! I have also heard that drinking castor oil helps. Walking is always a favorite for those trying to induce labor. Try driving on a bumpy road - no idea why that helps, but I hear it does. I also have heard that eating spicy foods will help - but if is doesn't, I guess you are just left with heartburn! :) Good luck!!

When I was pregnant I was told to drive on bumpy roads, or have sex it is suppose to induce it too. Or another one is ddrinkk raspberry tea, but the only thing that worked for me was waiting until the baby was ready but go ahead and give them a try, my sister use to bounce down the stairs on her bum. I hope it helps, and good luck, also when you think you rin labour have a hot shower or bath, if it is labour it well get stronger, if not then you should feel better.

Unfortunately, there's not too much that you can do. the baby will come when it is ready to. If it's any consolation, you won't be pregnant forever, and very soon you will have long sleepless nights to deal with instead of agonizing pain. Children are great! Good luck!

I know the following solutions have worked for either myself or a friend:
-One glass of red wine (alcohol in moderation near the end is acceptable)
-Caesar salad
-Sex....and lots of it (if you feel up to it)
Or, why not combine the 3 and make it a night! :-) Good luck!
