Talk to him every day so he is comfortable being with you and discussing things with you. LATER, when something comes up that you know he is interested in, see if he's interested in taking you along.
As you get to know him, DO NOT ASK HIM HOW HE FEELS about you. OK. Boys don't put their "real" feelings into words. Men don't either (unless they've learned to lie about their feelings in order to manipulate women --such men are called "players.")

Arrange for a group of you all to go out and invite him along and see how it goes, that should hopefully make you feel more at ease in each others company and give you the confidence to invite him out for real!
