Almost no one believes in Thor, Wotan, Apollo, Ammon Ra, Poseidon, Mithras; we are all athiest here.

We are all athiest about most the gods that humanity has ever believed in.

Don't some just go one God further?

True, but monotheism became popular several thousand years ago, when religious leaders had to consolidate their teachings as man's mind evolved consciousness and began thinking for himself. It's an interesting theory..check it out :

That doesn't makes us atheists. People's religion changes over time and different gods are worshiped. Then when Christianity came, it was changed to one god instead of polytheism. But people still believe in a god. So they're not atheists. They still believe in a higher power. It's only when you don't believe in anything at all that you're an atheist.

Atheism is the belief in no gods at all, so one god and no gods is a big difference. And your question says we are all not really atheists, not that we're all basically atheists.

You use the term atheist wrong. You think it's not believing in a god or goddess, but it's not believing in any god or goddess.

That's what I keep saying but the Christers just close their ears.

It's a really intelligent and to the point question and you will get abuse for asking it from the same old dead heads, it might shake their world if they thought it through.

Hmmmm. That would depend on your idea of an atheist....and if those Gods/Goddess are all a manifestation of the spirit then believing in one could techinically mean you believe in all of them.

to be an atheist you have to believe in no higher power. so if u didn't believe in the guys u listed but believed in God then that doesn't make you an atheist.

JUST THE REVERSE! WE ALL HAVE A SENSE OF THE ULTIMATE. YOU, YOURSELF, FOR EXAMPLE, HAVE SOME CONCERN, FEAR, THAT GOD KEEPS SCORE! GOD DOESN'T KEEP SCORE ON US ,HOWEVER WE CAN NEVER BE SUCH OF THAT!

THE "RESTLESS DISSATISFACTION" THAT WE ALL EXPERIENCE HAS A SPIRITUAL CAUSE. OH YES, WE ARE "GOD FEARING", FROM THAT THERE IS NO ESCAPE.
