Ok...Last friday I was at work the INS security came in to the 25 restaurants that the company that i am working for has just at my restaurant we lost 16 cooks and we have just 4 left and it's the same situation all around Mass (talking about the company that i am working for). Obviously i am not able to ask for any help at some other restaurant because all of aour fellow stores are dealing with the same situation. For the last 2 days 19 of our stores around the region didn't open and the other 6 had to close so early because they couldn't make it without cooks. Today is Sunday and we have just 3 open stores and 22 didn't open. I called one of my managers and he said that in last 2 and a half days they have lost around 2 millions on sales and they are not ble to open the stores because they don't have cooks. So what do you think?, Does they really hurt or help our economy?.
Please read and think a liltle bit, just don't throw all your anger...Thanks...have a great Sunday...

Immigrants are the best solution to cover the posts of unwanted jobs in many countries! If the law changes they automatically start paying taxes. When you born cannot choose the place to live, later however you should be allowed to do whatever and wherever you want. That's the human right - freedom. Romanians moved to Poland, Poles moved to the UK, British and Mexicans moved to USA, Dominicans, Colombians to Spain etc. There were recently millions of people around globe who found the place to live somewhere else and how on earth the governments will put them back to where they came from? If they find a job it obviously means they're needed there. You lost cooks - pay bribes officers so they go to other industries instead ;-D)))

I am really torn over this issue. The reality is, your employer was breaking the law by hiring the illegal immigrants. The illegal immigrants were breaking the law because they were working without a work visa.

Three of my grandparents were from other countries. They all immigrated to the US legally. I guess that I resent the fact that people can abide by the laws and do great things, while others break the laws.

When an illegal immigrant is breaking the law by working here in the US, he/she is also breaking other laws, like driving without a license, insurance...

In the last three weeks, there have been three accidents in Denver involving illegal immigrants. One was a race between two cars...two people were seriously injured, and two were killed. Their families were deported. Another man hit a three year old that ran out in front of his car. He kept driving for about a half a block and then got out of his car and ran. Another woman left her 6 month old baby inside a steaming hot car.

Part of becoming a citizen, or even being a good visitor, is to follow the rules of a country. Why don't they immigrate legally if they really want to be in the US?

Basically, the company you work for and the immigrants you worked with, broke the law and are now paying for it.

I am sympathetic and I am not sympathetic. You took the easy route to develope your biz and you built that biz on a knowingly, illegal foundation. You took the risk and now you are going to pay. It's kinda like robbing a bank full of other people's money. You might get away with it for a while but then you get caught. Was it worth it? Think about the $$$$$ you have in the bank and the things you have purchased with those ill gotten gains, basicaly born on the backs of other Americans who did not employ illegals.
You will experience set backs. We all do. Our country will be better off for legal activities in biz and elsewhere. We can't allow or build our lives on illegality. Otherwise, where will it all end. Where do we say this is legal and OK and that is not. Illegal immigration is a death knel to the USA in many, many ways.
Believe it or not, I am nearly 60 and I dig my own ditches and paint my own walls, cut my own lawn and many other things that I'd love to have cheap labor do. I won't support it. It's not right and it's not fair to others around me.
Get back in step with the rest of legal society. We will support you if you will support us by hiring legal kitchen help, etc.Higher prices are to be expected.
Use/advertise your legal orientation to let others in US know who you are. They will come flocking when they know they are supporting Americans working for Americans. It's the only way things will work in the long run. We are all here for the long run. Not a quick buck at someone else's expense.
I wish you well, in all sincerity.

If they hadn't hired illegal immigrants they would have felt no impact at all. If they had so many I wonder if they really didn't know they were illegal. If they did know, your boss is lucky he isn't looking at jail, because that is the kind of punishment ICE has been looking at lately.

If you rely on an illegal workforce and they are deported, you are going to have problems while you find someone else. No one said that an employer having people up and leave didn't leave them high and dry. However, it is a dislocation until they hire new people.

Until the employer database to check the status of legal workers is up and running, it is hard for an employer to know if a worker who gives them false ID is legal. However, with this many I do wonder if they might have had a glimmering of what they were doing.

I know you won't pick my answer, but that's exactly what you should get for hiring illegals. If you got the fines others get you wouldn't have a business left to complain about. Now hire some citizens and pay them a living wage, then maybe this won't happen to your business again. I think it's only business profits you were interested in anyway, not the economy.

I understand the point you're trying to make, but I still feel no sympathy. As someone who lives in a town filled with illegals, I am grateful measures are being taken to remove them. Surely there are legal immigrants or Americans that can take their place at the oven. Look around-people always need jobs, even people that are legally allowed to be here.

I think it is pretty simple. Your company should not hire illegals. Then they would be able to open all their stores.

I believe that corporate greed is in part responsible for the influx of illegal aliens. If they wouldn't break the law and hire them, there would be no reason for them to come here.

I am definitely for tougher enforcement on corporations or individuals that hire illegal workers.

The money is still in America. if your company cant attract legal workers then to be quite honest your company will be out of business soon.
