Yes, i Have but only once.

What do you want to know about it. if i understand correctly you have two exe's(for simplicity we will limit it to two) one i your old one and the other is your new one.

The new one probably contains less bugs then the previous or you have removed certain functions. what the patch updated does is search for hte difference between the files and then creates another file which you can pass onto others who were using your original exe/program. when they run the program the patch updater first chjecks that the signatures of the old files are correct and then just inserts or removes the neccasary bits from their files. If the signatures are incorrect (some one hacked certain parts out or it is infected with a virus) then it does nothing.

I hope that's the kind of patch updater you were talking about because you didn't give many details. if your game comes bundled with a patch updater it works in a similar manner except that you probably have to be connected to the internet. If you use a cracked/no-cd exe the the patch updater for the game will not work.
