I have 2 dogs and 3 cats. Both dogs are healthy normal weight, and same with two of the cats, but the third... she is fat. (I think she has an eating disorder)

It seems after you have them spayed or neutered they gain weight. My little Westie is 8 years old and doesn't eat that much. I paid for a thyroid test and blood work up and found that she did not have thyroid trouble. She is very active and chases the big dog but is still chubby. I guess they are a lot like people. Some can eat everything and stay slender while others just look at a piece of cake and they gain weight. Good luck. It doesn't hurt to have the thyroid test and it will put your mind at ease.

I have two cats and neither of them are fat. I'm careful to only feed them between 1/4 and 1/2 c. of food per day. My vet said to only feed them 1/4 of a cup but it seems like too little so I feed them a bit more than that. They play a lot also which helps to keep them at a health weight.

I have 1 dog and 4 cats. My dog is very healthy. 2 of my cats are their normal size and 2 of my other cats are fat but they are healthy. One reason why 1 of 'em is fat is cause he's old..
Their names are Dawg, Sugar Bear, Socks, Lil' Gurl, and Tigger or sometimes we call him BooBoo. They are all sweet. And out of all 5 pets we only have 1 gurl (Lil' Gurl)

i have a cat and her 5 kittens. My cat is pretty thin, because she is feeding those kittens all the time. I have never had a fat pet, but I am trying to fatten up my cat, because she is getting too scrawny.
Thanks for asking.

I have 3 cats no they are healthy and thin, when people allow their pets to get fat that is wrong, it is unhealthy for them just like humans, I have seen animals have a hard time walking getting around and that is bad. NO TABLE FOOD. If you love your pets keep them healthy.

I have 5 cats.. and all but one are above the "healthy" weight range. One of them in particular, is a huge grey guy who loves to cuddle.. he's so sweet, although when he stands on you, it feels as though he will burst your internal organs.
He is also so sweet and wants to sleep with me at night, on my pillow...... unfortunately he takes up the entire pillow....
I worry about my kitties a great deal. We try to give them plenty of play exercise, but we do not have a yard at this point for them to run around in.
We also try to feed them the appropriate amount of food, although they typically seem to find a way to get more. They will open, knock over, tear, or destroy anything containing food.. we do our best to keep food out of their reach, although they are agile little buggers, regardless of their weight.
We can only keep trying to motivate them to move, and maintain the healthiest diet possible.. we're in the process of finding more ways to keep them out of extra food.
It is very difficult to see an animal that you love so much -- in danger of contracting diabetes, and other ailments due to obesity.. Although, it seems.... as with humans, some cats use food as a pleasant place to fall. Something to make them happier.
Since we have one cat in the perfect weight range, a couple who are in the overweight range, and one who is obese.. all eating the same food, all getting similar exercise.. I also wonder about genetics. Since all of our cats were gained through the Humane Society, we have no clue as to their family history...
*hugs* for all those out there struggling with keeping their pets healthy. It is a difficult thing to manage, and even more difficult to fix once it has happened..

i have 2 dogs and a cat. My kitty was overweight, but I put her on weight management food and she lost weight. I have one dog that's overweight, but I haven't switched her food yet, because I haven't figured out how to keep the dogs from eating each other's food.

I have a cat that was chubby, but we gave her the indoor cat food and she lost some weight.
We have a bagel (beagle-bassett) that we adopted a while ago and she's quite round. She's old (10+), doesn't eat much, and likes to walk, but can't seem to drop any weight.
