I lost my yorkie's registration papers. He's one year old, and I want to breed him, as he is ideal for doing so. But how do I register him/ get new papers? I want to register him with the AKC, that's where his parents are registered. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Call AKC and see if they can help you. Even at a year old you don't know he ideal for breeding. He should be evaluated by a few breeders to see if he is what the standard calls for. Then you get all the health clearences that are required for the breed. THEN you breed!!!!!!!!! I know they are prone to luxating patellas. I think OFA clears for that. If you are unwilling to make sure he is a proper and healthy specimine of the breed, you just become a backyard breeder. Remember, the only reason to breed is to IMPROVE the breed. A dog that is not of correct type and who has genetic problems is not improving the breed.

Contact the AKC and his breeder. They can help you possibly get replacement registration papers. The fee for registration is increased by quite a bit after the dog is a year old.

About the breeding, you should talk with several breeders and she what they think about you dog, if he conforms to the standard, etc. HEALTH SCREENS!

The AKC should have your name as well as your dog on file. I think for a fee they will send you copies of all your paperwork.
