While I wouldn't wish him dead, it wouldn't break my heart to never see or hear him on tv again. When he does die, I won't dance on his grave but I won't mourn him either. He is such a piece of work! Definitely not a person I care for in the slightest.

Absolutely not! Don King is a great business man and most people never hear about his life before he was a boxing promoter, they only hear that he killed 2 people. While it is not a totally accurate account of his life, the movie about Don King starring Ving Rhames called "Only in America" does show alot more about his life than the papers say. For example, he shot a man dead in self defence after the man broke into Don King's home so clearly that is not murder, it is self defence and a judge agreed with that and he was not charged with murder. The second so called "killing" involved Don King almost being killed himself because a junkie that he apparently lent money too refused to pay him back so Don King beat him up. If the person was not a junkie they would not have died after that beating and Don King would not have got the reputation that he got as a result of that incident. Also remember that when Don King was growing up that there was no (and some people would say there still isn't!) equality for African Americans and he was expected to be a another poor black man doing what he was told to do but instead he chose to make more money for himself by being involved in gambling. While this was illegal, it is no where near the crime of say drug dealing and years later, because he took gambles promoting huge money fights, like the one against Ali and Foreman, he made professional boxers richer than they had ever been, instead of most professional boxers retiring poor, as most had always done before Don King. Don King has also been very generous to many charities but most people do not like to hear that because they choose to think - so what, didn't he kill two guys? - but this is still a fact that he has been very generous. I am not saying he is an angel but am only saying that there is more to his life than most people are told. Wishing someone dead unless it is Hitler is not healthy for you!

That's a bit harsh. Besides, to see Don King dead you'd still have to see him, lol. :D

Seriously, though, Don King has put a lot of great matches together and made the sport what it is today. His money-grubbing ways are actually typical of most boxing promoters. Long before King came around, Doc Kearns did his best to bankrupt the state of Montana for the Dempsey-Gibbons fight.

I do also know he's done a lot to rob his boxers of their hard-earned cash, to put options on fights that before would have been considered ridiculous, and has made the heavyweight division very boring by not finding the best opponents for his fighters. But that's business. Since he hasn't done anything to me personally, I'll let him live for now.

In the scheme of the world, Don King is nothing. Get over it. Unless he personally screwed you, that's a bit over the top.
