It depends on the level of the date. First date, no. You dont want to come across too needy and possessive. If it's a third or fourth date and you get the vibes that she likes you, then yes, sit next to her. I prefer to sit next to my date myself.

one shud sit across. if u really wanna impress ur girlfriend, tell her that u cud site beside her too but u sat across in order to get a clear view of ur beautiful face :-)

Depends. Sit across if you want to talk and see eachother easier. Beside if you want to put your arm around her IF she is comfortable with it.
