Why are we being punished for the original sin? After all, they ate the forbidden fruit, we didn’t. Reason would lead one to say it’s their problem, not ours. Even the bible contradicts itself by claiming in Deuteronomy 24:16, “children shall not be punished for the sins of their fathers.”

original sin is garbage

its true that we are lesser because of Adam's sin but that dose not mean we are born into sin.

every one is born with the ability to chose good or evil to say that the scales are tipped before you are born is ridicules and undermines our purpose in this world.

Your question should have read "According to my interpretation of your Bible I am to believe that human kind is sinful for Adam and Eve ate the fruit of knowledge?"

The story you mention is about Adam eating the forbidden fruit of the "knowledge of good and evil." By doing so he brought death upon himself; he was cast out of the garden and no longer had access to the "tree of life." He is now in captivity in the land of the dead. The name "Adam" is a word, which means "mankind." The story is relating that mankind brought death upon himself by his own deed. Therefore, we're not being punished for a sin of our fathers; rather we're still experiencing the result of our own misdeed since we're all a part of mankind. Just because you don't remember it doesn't mean you weren't there. You probably don't remember when you were two months old either.

The problem with that is are you looking, or anyone for that matter looking at it as Biblical history or real history.

If it's Biblical history there are a lot of problems with the question.

Case in point: Adam and Eve are supposed to be the first two people god ever created. Okay. Then later they had Cain and Abel.

By my count, and by anyone who has had even grade school math knows that comes out to 4.

But Cain kills Abel (thereby becoming the world's first murderer) and is sent out into the world. Cain is afraid and wonders how he will survive when other people learn about what he did to Abel, and thereby try to kill him. God marks Cain and says that anyone who lays a finger on you will suffer. Then Cain goes out to the Land of Nod and he knew his wife?

Whaaaaat? If there were only 4 people, and Cain kills one, how did we automatically jump to other people being out there and where did Cain's wife come from.

Does anyone think god maybe pulled another creation story over on the next corner, or what?

You can't look at the Bible as a historical document. It won't stand up to any amount of scrutiny. You can only look at it as a bunch of quaint, little myths (like the Greek and Roman god stories), and go from there.

Well, it is not the eating of the fruit that is the sin, but rather the disobedience of God. And no, sin is not inherited, it just happened that when Adam and Eve where removed from the garden of Eden, God punished them and their offspring, and so we are all guilty of original sin.

Children shall not be punished for the sins of their fathers, yet a baby cannot go to heaven without being baptized, removing original sin from his soul.

Any religion that believes newborn babes are not innocent ...well, I don't want to actually put it ino words

It's not punishment, it's responsibility. Whether or not we like it we gained the knowledge that we are different than all other animals. Just as evolution reasons the end result is the same, we know more and are now held to the higher expectation, Stewardship of the Earth.

We are not being punished, but are suffering the inevitable result of genetics. We inherited sin and imperfection from Adam and Eve:

The Devil schemed to draw the first humans away from God. To lure them into taking his side, Satan lied. He imputed bad motives to Jehovah by saying: “God knows that in the very day of your eating from it [Tree of knowledge] your eyes are bound to be opened and you are bound to be like God, knowing good and bad.” (Genesis 3:1-5) The Devil thus suggested that God was withholding something good. What a slanderous assault on the truthful, loving heavenly Father, Jehovah!

Eve looked at the tree again, and its fruit now seemed especially desirable. So she took the fruit and ate it. Later, her husband willfully joined her in this sinful act of disobedience to God. (Genesis 3:6) Although Eve was deceived, both she and Adam supported Satan’s scheme to rule the human race. In effect, they became his accomplices.—Romans 6:16; 1 Timothy 2:14.

Adam and Eve had to face the consequences of their actions. They did not become like God, with special knowledge. Instead, they felt ashamed and hid themselves. Jehovah called Adam to account, pronounced sentence, and expelled them from Paradise. They then began their descent into physical death.

Satan had apparently succeeded in his scheme to receive human veneration. Yet, he could not keep his worshipers alive. When sin started to work in the first human couple, they could no longer pass on perfection to their offspring. Sin was deeply engraved into the genes of our first parents, so they could produce only imperfect offspring. Since all their children were conceived after Adam and Eve sinned, their offspring inherited sin and death.—Psalm 51:5; Romans 5:12

It's supposed to be something like "they brought sin into the world, but don't force everybody else to sin". but Jesus is the only person who's supposed to have never sinned, so basically that still results in everybody sinning because adam and eve did something.

We are being punished because the fruit was the fruit of knowledge. It has logic and intellect. Thus, by eating it, Adam and Eve has to survive on agriculture and not rely on the divine power of immortality. Point is, we are able to survive on such hardships with intellects.

You are not being punished for their sin, you are being punished for your own sin. Or are you trying to lead us to believe you are without sin?
