I'm in love with Chai Tea Lattes available at many coffee shops, so I bought the Tazo concentrate from Starbucks. On the carton, it says to use it up within a week. Why is that? It still tastes fine afterwards, and I haven't died yet. Is Starbucks just trying to buy more of it or is there a legitimate reason?

Well...the tea is plucked fresh and packaged fresh. It's been sealed and when you unseal it it begins to lose that freshness. the freshness is what they sell. it goes hand in hand with the flavor and what makes it so good. SO in order to ensure that their reputation for good flavor is not damaged by people who leave the carton in a cabnit for 6 months and then make it and proceed to spit it out and tell everyone who hasnt tried it that it's nasty, they make sure to put it on the label. that way...if you do that and it's nasty,,.they can wag a finger at you and say "told you so"...and yes, they want to sell more tea this way too, though I dont imagine that anyone throws it out after just seven days. try the new bananna frap..it's really good. ( I dont work for starbucks...okay okay...I do own their stock)
