They listed s-video A-V connector. I assume the A-V is an Audio, Video connector, but what is S-video?

s-video is separate video. .. it typically uses a 4-pin mini-DIN connector. it carries the video in 2 separate signals:brightness (luminance) and color (chrominance).

short if it is.. an s-video connection would give you a better picture than a regular av connection. but since it only carries the video signal, you would still need to connect a set of audio cables.

s video is just another way to transfer video to your tv, the same way the old yellow RCA cable did. You probably hava an s video connection on your tv. if not, its not a huge deal, all camcorders give you AV cables (the red yellow and white) in the box.

Another suggestion go for a mini dv (tape) camcorder, not a miniDVD (disc). The quality with the tapes are so much better and they are so much easier to use....or if you're gonna splurge, go with one of the new hard drive camcorders from JVC or sony ($599-$999)
