Depends. You can either go mainstream publishing or with a self-publish or print on demand service. If you have a niche market, self publishing can be good. If you are looking to find your book in every store in America, go mainstream. For self-publishing, I've heard many good things about http://www.lulu.com. For help with the process, check out http://www.wordtechs.com. You will need a good editor in your corner. They can also steer you toward good agents.

Good luck with your writing!

Go to www.rightreading.com and search for "how to get a book published." You may find the basic advice there helpful.

Visit cafepress.com - you can set up your own shop on there and they will print anything you want and ship them to your customers. Of course there is a fee for the service but it may be a sure fire way (and a quicker one) to get your book known rather than going to loads of publishers!! Good Luck :D

What kind of book? If it is a young kid's book, try Scholastic or Western Publishing.
